i am a firm believer that if you are comfortable with your weight it looks good because your happy with it so u look happy and confident but if u are not so sure of your weight ( to thin or fat) it can make you look over weight/under weight.
I look back at pics of my self when i was a size 12 and i look fab but at the time i thought i was to fat so i never went out and people thought i was ill, I'm a size 14/16 now and happier with my weight and people seem to say i look better for it.
So if your happy with your weight on the inside it shows on the out side so no matter what size 8-28 if your happy in yourself other see u as sexy happy and confident.
( if Ive made no sense I'm sorry i do tend to go on abit lol )
is there a gender difference flower? ive recently lost 5 stone and although all my female friends are like "wow you look great how much have you lost now?" and can totally see it on me.....male friends and colleagues are just kinda looking at me a bit puzzled and going..."have you had your hair done.....?" lol
dizzy_donna, i totally agree with you kiss although, ive never been a beleiver in "fat and happy"..."fat and ok" maybe lol i wasnt totally unhappy 5 stone ago....but im more than happy now smile
well i joined weight watcher at the end of last year and have lost 6 stone so far going from a size 22 to a size 12 i would like to loose about another two stone but i have to admit i feel 100 times better for it so far, thats not me saying thinners better just for me it is what ever your comfy with is better for you.

Everybody who could be considered a little overweight says "you`ve lost weight"
But all those who are skinny say " You`ve put on weight"
As it happens, I have put on quite a lot of weight. But I`m trying to work out whether their perceptions are affected by their own body image or if there is another explanation.

How interesting, and how observant of you. I'm going to be watching my own reactions to my friends now ... and theirs to me! smile

Well done to both of you!
What I have noticed from both of you is that you both comment on how much "healther" you feel. Neither one of you have mentioned looks etc.... this is excellant because you are clearly losing weight for your health.
I've recently lost 1 1/2 stone and I feel so much healthier it's unreal. I was starting to get tired during the day and this has now gone. I've a bit more to lose, but I know I'll get there.
As for Flower's bit... I always knew people had noticed I'd put on weight when you met them and they would say.."don't you look well!" Well is a brill word to use when you have nothing more flattering to say! lol
I actually know of very skinny people who dislike overweight people and who are known to make comments along the lines of "should you be eating that?" and this annoys me to the core! evil
I recently complimented a female friend of mine by saying how she seemed to have lost some weight and was looking fantastic.
Unfortunately her response was to accuse me of thinking that she used to be fat!
I'm sure I'll work women out some day....

are you sure about that ... or could it just be your perception of them smile
confidence is what can make people look happy and well.
these days im very curvy, ok fat lol ive been a size 6- to a size 20 .6 was silly 20 at the moment is also silly as im tired, cant wear some of my clothes so get furstrated, and feel less confident, so im about to go back to slimming world again.
i dont expect to lose massive amounts, but for me if i can lose 2 stone i know id feel better, more energy, confident, sexy, better skin, sleep patterns.
one thing that ive noticed is ive come across some people who have lost weight, more down to stress than hard work and healthy eating, and are then very critical of those who are larger than them.
well done NN, thats a massive journey youve been on.
i dont think ive answered the question lol

We all know you ladies are worried about what everybody thinks of your body shape. However , us men do generally prefer a lady who has the confidence to be herself. A confident (non pushy) lady is far sexier than a bean pole who is so concerned about her weight that she becomes obsessive with it.
But spare a thought for us lads; we can be as worried about our shape as you all. And mrs adi says that a confident man who is built for comfort more than speed, is far more sexy than a guy more interested in posing infront of mirrors.
Apart from that ladies, well done on losing the excess weight and we are pleased that you feel so much healthier. We agree, being healthy is far more important than being thin.
Does this post now qualify for a sympathy shag now? rolleyes

Wow, well done both of you!! Bet you feel such a sense of achievement in doing something you set out to do!
Wish I had the willpower to eat a little more sensibly and stop eating cakes!!! My downfall! confused :?
I reckon it's a memory thing.
Every time my (now ex) nother in law saw me she commented how much weight I had lost. Very nice you might think. But at the time I was actually piling on the pounds. So I had to assume that between our meetings she imagined that I was absolutely huge!!! :lol2:
