I was just wondering what everyone's favourite genre of music is?
Personally I couldn't live without music, I've always had an interest. My mum says it's because I was a little bugger when i was a baby and wouldn't go to sleep without music so she used to leave the radio on.
I love watching new or established bands playing live.... i love the feeling you get when you see them performing. I really wish I'd taken up an instrument when I was younger or that I could sing...... I (try to) sing in the car on the way to work, people must think I'm mad!
I listen to all sorts but these days it's mainly metal/rock though I love a good tune you can sing to! I have so many cd's of every genre and it really does depend on my mood as to what music I want to listen to. I have my entire CD collection in my car as thats where I listen to most of my music so if my car ever got stolen I'd be devastated!
Anyway, the original question is: What is your favourite genre of music?
I apologise if this thread is a repeated one..... I did have a look to see if I was duplicating!

As do you Onlyme1981 I like rock/metal and listen to that almost exclusively.
I do happen to listen to classical nowadays if I want a bit of background music.
I like bits of other genres but I pick and choose.
Generally music of the 60s/70s was what I grew up with but there are a lot of new bands I listen to.
Dance & Trance when I am out clubbing.
Queen at home.
Mixture of everything from Erasure to ACDC in the car (dependant on my mood)
The WHOOSH Man
I love most bands from the 70's and some from the 80's & 90's.
Some of my fav bands,
Yes, Rush, Jethro Tull, Al stewart, Kiss, kate bush, Heather Nova, The Cure and not forgetting Tangerine Dream!!
cool

anything but fecking rap banghead
Theres been quite a few music threads before so if you wanna look back,im sure youll find them!!
It's so hard to pick one particular genre, so I'll have to go with individual artists here...
My all-time favourite is, without a doubt, Cat Stevens. The rest depends on my mood: For casual listening, it's usually Yes, Brian Eno, King Crimson, Laurie Anderson, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd or Queen. Party time? Gotta be Yello, Art of Noise, Godley & Creme, Talking Heads, The The, Shriekback and their ilk. During those rampant intellectual moments, it's artists like William S. Burroughs, The Residents, Morton Subotnik or Philip Glass. For classical, I stick mainly with J. S. Bach, as I adore the mathematical recursiveness of his work. But, of course, the biggest musical influence on my life has to be the ! ;)

I love Northern Soul - have done since I was 14... did the usual niter experience then - had a break - discovered it once more about six years ago via the WWW and now go out regularly to soul nights.
Other than that I love Classical music - Blues - some Jazz - 70's Pop music
Good thread BTW... it's this kind of thread which gets folk chatting and leads on to new friends. smile

Im a rock 'n' roll girl at heart. My favorite song of all time is 'Sweet Child o Mine' and when I used to work in Radio, I blagged as many concert tickets as possible, my trophy being the US festival in 1989 and catching Van Halen twice. Once with Roth and the other with Sammy Hagar.
Big G is a soul man, to the very core although his appreciation of music is quite vast. Put on an Aretha Franklin LP (its gotta be the LP, CD will NOT suffice) and you can witness the tiger in him, transform. Shockingly, much like Puss-in-Boots in Shrek 2. lol
I'm like Reese, it depens on my moods but if pushed I would say Folk music.I find it relaxes me when I'm stressed out.
i dont have a "type" of music.. i like a bit of everything.
the_tongue has truelly awfull taste in music.. i keep telling him that the only decent CD in his car is one i left there!!!!

Me too! But especially urban music like Usher and Kelis. (MR RSAB2 disagrees though he likes anything 80's)
