How would you feel If you were a fairly new member to this site, trying to find your way around and found comfort within the forum setting and merely added/expressed an opinion on a thread and you found yourself being mouthed at by so called regulars? Correct me if im wrong and I would so like for someone to point out that I am; But the last page or so of this thread I have witnessed what appears to be aggression towards another member of an excellent and well run site.
It really does not set a good example of behaviour amongst like minded adults does it?

Hi Licky- and :welcome: to SH. Im sorry to hear that you feel your friend has been "mouthed" at, and that people have been "agressive". However, that which you deem to be agressive I see as simply being debate.
There was no nastiness involved, and no personal insults- just good clean difference of opinion. When you're new here of course if a couple of the "oldies" bolt disagree with you it may seem that you are being "picked on", but you only have to read elsewhere that TN has been warmly welcomed, & will continue to be so.
This place would be pretty dull if there was no debating!

I don't mind debate at all. I think I have made my position clear - the difference seems to stem from the different opinions on the word 'genuine'. It did come across as a bit harsh but then, as a newbie, I don't yet know much and criticism is never easy to take. I am a big softie so can be a bit sensitive but respect that this is a public forum.
Other's opinions on the word genuine do not apply in context to my posts, hence why I stated what I deem as a genuine enquiry. My opinion may not match others, but it's just as valid as anyone else's - just different. That is the beauty of a forum - we are all different.
Hopefully I have not offended people too much, a healthy debate can only be a good thing when carried out with consideration for all parties.

I think that's the point Wenchy was perhaps making - you haven't offended anyone. It's just a comment being questiond and people seeking clarification.
When I was 'new' in the forum I would fly off the handle if somebody questioned what I had written because I saw it as personal. redface

My post was aimed at TN - thought her comments on thread and profile didn't quite match, that's all. I certainly wasn't aggressive and I don't think any other people have been aggressive toward her.
Ask yourself this - would you like it if someone with three posts came on a forum and told you how to post?

Thinkingnaughty - let me assure you - you did not offend me and I was expressing my opinion on one subject just as you have.
You will note my last post on the actual issue of replying to PM's was not aimed at you in isolation ... "anyone but no one in particular" - it was a general expression of something that 'gets my goat' as it were.
I am sure there will be threads where we agree on something or another wink

I've had a few FFS-inducing PMs, but I have told them what I think (yes, I know that will surprise some people lol ) and some of them have actually taken on board why people might be offended/put off by what they've written. So, the PMs can be turned around and used to make constructive comments to people.
