After all the news stories that are out jus lately, about crime rates, attacks, murders, fraud etc etc i thought i would post some positive news that happened to me yesterday to show that there are still some good people in this world.
Yesterday i went to open a new bank account and on doing so took my passport, birth cert, and medical card with my name and address on. After setting up the account and getting an account number i left the bank and went to the paper shop to buy my papers.
On returning to the car i realised i didnt have my id with me nor my papers from the bank with my account details on. Paniced i returned to the shop to see if i had dropped them to be told no.
By this stage i was starting to worry as they had not only my bank details but 3 forms of my id. I got my thoughts together and returned to the shop to ask them to make sure i didnt hand them over when passing my papers to them.
They explained that a guy had picked them up from the shoo floor and handed them over to the lady behind the counter, how relieved was i!
I was shocked and pleased that there are still some honest people in this world, i know there is no way they could of taken any details from my id as i remained in the doorway of the shop even while gathering my thoughts.
I thought this was a nice little story considering the times we are now living in today and nice to know there are still some good honest people still out there.
I jus wondered if anyone else has had the same sort of thing happen to them where they were shocked by another persons honestly or helpfulness
Or
What would you of done if you was the person that that found someone elses id and bank details?

Restores your faith in human nature!
I probably would have taken them to the Police - that way I could be sure that someone wouldn't do anything untoward with them.
I'd have handed it in, a lot of us would Hell, I think most people are decent and honest, I hope so anyway for all our sakes!
Nice story hells, and welcome virgin poster... I was there once but I had my cherry popped by all the lovely folk here...
Last year when I got out of my car, outside my house my wallet fell out of my pocket onto the floor. I didn't notice and had not noticed until two young girls aged about 15-16 knocked on my door and handed it back to me. All the money was inside it, not a thing was missing.
I offered them £20 as a thankyou, but they refused and just left with smiles on their faces.
I didn't want to ask any more info as it looks a bit odd when you have an old geezer saying "So... What school do you go to? Do you want money?" But I was heartened by the fact they did that.
I genuinely think most people are good. There are a few idiots, selfish morons around. But not as many as the media would have you believe.
Always happy to spread good news...
Nice post too!
found a wallet and bank card in poundland once....
took it and dropped it straight back to hsbc...
who knows who u hand it to in shops
I found a wallet in the gutter once, full of the usual everythings. One of the cards was from my bank so I phoned them; they wouldn't give me the owner's address but I asked them to give him my contact details. The owner called me, I sent him his wallet back and three days later the most enormous, fabulous bouquet of flowers arrived from him.
I wish I'd kept the address to thank him for the flowers.
So... if you're reading this, man who dropped his wallet, thank you for the amazing flowers. kiss
I found a handbag, complete with cards, licence and cash, at the side of a carpark.
I took it back to the address on the licence.
Then spent an hour trying to persuade the law that I hadn't taken it.

Rematch at a later date.
Just now had a call from my bank to say someone has dropped them off an envelope containing my debit card which they found on a shop floor. I must've dropped it last Saturday but only noticed yesterday when I went to use it and have been calling shops and frantically tidying at home, hoping I wouldn't have to cancel it and go through all the palaver of getting a replacement.
Now all smily and happy with the world - and I hope the hander-inner has left their details so they can get a big thankyou. biggrin biggrin biggrin
Several times in the past I've had my possessions rescued and returned by kindly strangers. And I've done, and would do the same.

Same here. I found a card wallet in the street and dropped it in to the bank that the card belonged to - it was only 20 yards away so mot much bother.
I generally wouldn't hand anything in to a shop assistant. It's not that I think they are untrustworthy in any way. But it's another pair of 'civilian' hands the stuff passes through before reaching the rightful owner.
I have to admit I did pick up and keep a £20 note the other week. It was late one evening and I was crossing a large car-park with friends. There was no-one in sight (the note was wet and had been rained on in the last hour or so) and a cinema and 4 restaurants on the outskirts of the car-park. I reckoned my chances of finding the owner were next to zero. So I used it to treat us all to supper. I did wonder if the owner would suffer without it, but there was bugger all I could do about that.
Should I have given it to charity? Probably. Maybe if I had been in town with a charity shop in the offing I would have.
i'm a firm believer in karma and try to live my life accordingly i once found a fiver on my doorstep i knew it wasn't mine or mr b's so knocked next door and asked there and as it happened the guy that lived there had lost it and was gob smacked i had bothered to ask as it was just a fiver
but then a couple of weeks later i was in town in a phone box (pre mobiles yes i am that old lol) made my call then walked off leaving my purse on top of the phone
i realised this around 30 mins later and rushed back to the phonebox in the hope no-one had used it in the mean time, there was a lady in there as i got there and i knocked and asked if there was a purse on top of the phone, there wasn't and as i walked off dispondantly she called after me and said there is a note though saying lost purse go to curries (the shop opposite the phonebox) so in a trotted to b told it had been taken to the police station you have no idea how relieved i was to finally retrieve it
it had been taken there with all my money in it, around £150 which 15 years ago was a fortune to us, by 2 young girls they were still there when i reached the police station i tried to give them £10 to thank them but they wouldn't take it bless um
reinforced my faith in human nature and most definatly karma
my oldest lad also did a good turn when he was around 14 he found a mobile a motorola razor when they first came out and he held onto it till the owner rang and arranged to meet him and gave it back i was so proud he did it all without any prompting from us we didn't find out till after the fact
there are a lot of good peeps out there of that i am certain
if i found anything i would hand it in, but saying that if i found a note like £10 i dont think i would.
i know if i dropped one i wouldnt go to the police st to see if it had been handed in. confused
my daughter went to the shopthe other day and when she went to pay realised she had lost the £5 i gave her.
she was so upset, but i just said well its a nice surprise for who ever finds it.

I have a few experiences of finding things as a child.
I found a handbag with purse cards and person ID in when I was around 11 that I handed to the police, I was told it was claimed but never received a thank you.
Around the age of 12 I found a wage packet with a wad of money in it along the staircase to our flats, I put a letter through all the doors just asking if anyone had lost some money, it was one of my neighbours wage packet I asked him to confirm how much was there, he was so relieved he gave me £10 and insisted I take it.
I have found the odd £10 in the street but nobody around so I have just kept it. If I saw anyone drop anything I would always let them know.
