Fireworks - BL**DY FIREWORKS

I know we have already talked about christmas cards etc for sale in tescos. BUT WHAT I WANNA KNOW, IS WHO IS ALREADY SELLING FIREWORKS !!!!!!!!

Its insane - the local yobs have started letting them off already and its only mid way through september !!

We've got this all the way through the rest of this month, the whole of October, and if its anything like last year, all the way through November !!

We have been hearing them all year sad

Theres a shop near where we live thats sells them all year round, I suppose there are shops like this everywhere.
What I would like to know is when they are going to enforce the firework laws that came out a couple of years ago that are supposed to stop this kind of thing.

we live in a area with a lot of asian so we start getting the dwali (or however its bloody well spelt lol) fire works about now right up to bonefire night

We get the national fireworks down here in August for two days and it can get seriously loud as I live relatively close to it.
I enjoy a good display :twisted: but my cat and dog go daft for the period,especially the dog who's scared of her own shadow at the best of times.

Hey there, We are also in Sth Wales and last Thursday and Friday we had fireworks going off constant from about 5pm till about 10pm on both days..........
No idea why, esp as it was still very bright and sunny when they first started.

This won't go down well with pet-haters but it's hard to describe how awful it was when I had my dog. She was absolutely terrified and used to shake violently for hours on end. She'd try to dig through the floor, hide in corners and was totally inconsolable. For the traditional 2 or 3 days round Guy Fawkes you can just about cope. But when it goes on for a month your heart bleeds. It's like living in a war zone. I just wished I could find a way of letting people know how much distress they were causing.
I think the shops could help by restricting the periods of sale.

There is nothing wrong with fireworks - I love them myself and if I had my time again maybe I would be pyrothechnic specialist! lol

What is wrong though is kids letting them off in a dangerous manner - so do not blame fireworks which most people like - but the parents who allow their kids set them off and the police who do not stop it.

I don't like the things.....they are dangerous and quite frankly boring and are a constant nuisance around this time of year!

Fireworks are great - look at the professional displays that are put on all over the world for major occasions (Lord Mayors Show in London, Olympic games, Edinburgh Festival, Hogmany etc.)
Now while I agree that stroppy teenagers should be stopped from abusing fireworks I can not argue against big displays or even against Guy Fawkes night.
You are trying to stop big boys having their toys FFS lol

I still reckon that the boys on here love fireworks and want to be in charge of a big display (pardon any pun) and that you are simply trying to stop all the men having any fun where you are not needed or involved. lol

Maybe you should consider how horny a guy gets after he has set off a couple of roman candles and wonders where to explode his rocket?

as for the yobs thats down to the shops not to sell them to kids(perhaps they should be sold to over 21s)

Who cares, I certainly don't I always prefer a proper organised display anyway - much better, and safer too.....
As it happens I used to work in a small corner shop that sold fireworks, we used to take ALL our stock in on September's delivery and not take any more in - in fact used to send some back after Nov 5 - and I'm sure the likes of Tescos could handle the distribution and sales without queues!!
as for the yobs thats down to the shops not to sell them to kids(perhaps they should be sold to over 21s)

Totally agree! Fireworks should only be used for properly organised displays, not 'down yer pub' type ones but organised displays only. Anybody else who has to handle explosives needs a license - why not people who can buy fireworks over the counter, there's no difference, they are still explosives!

wbicouple come and see were I buy mine every year and see the ques as most of there sales during firework season i.e. nov 5th christmas and new year ect. Is nothing but fireworkes and somtimes they have to order from there warehouse to meet the demand,they even send me a brochure every year.
And there just a corner shop to! But they are renowned for their fireworkes!

Ban them from public sale, to many instances to mention. Friend had one put in his letterbox, went to an organised display, a rocket misfired and went off a couple of feet above the crowd. There is also some spiteful twat lives near me who sets them off about 11:00pm for no fucking reason. I'd like to meet him, I'm sure he would then agree not to do it again mad

My dog is also absolutely terrified of fireworks. I usually go to the vets and get some doggy valium for over the Nov 5th weekend.. I have no problem with the organised displays because I know when they are, and like I say, I can get pills for the pooch. Its when the local yoof start messing about with them at all times of the day or night. I usually end up comforting my poor, shaking and frightened doggy wherever she has taken refuge (usually under the stairs in the least accessible place in the house..).
If I could catch the irresponsible gits who love to set them off whenever they feel like it, I would shove the fireworks right up their arses and see how they like being frightened... mad

Pointless selling them to the genral public as they are let off all year round and sometimes I have heard ones let off around in the morning. Why anyone lets them off at thathour is beypond me. :shock:

Organised displays are definately the best & gives surrounding neighbours a chance to do something with / for their pets because you know when it's gonna happen.
I remember when living in the family house we had 2 dogs & 3 cats and they all hated the fireworks that were let of constantly whether by our neighbours or just locally. Admittedly back then it certainly wasn't half as long as they go on these days.
And what would be the point of them when it's still bright, still haven't worked that one out yet. confused
