Mine was "See my baby Jive" by Wizzard!! Yes it was a long time ago!
Suze xx
Mine... Pink Floyd another brick in the wall and Kelly Marie - feels like I'm in love!
Played them on my battery operated record player with scratchy stylus! cooooool! cool
Ernie the fastest milk float in the west - benny hill. progressed on to northern soul and jazz/funk from there but i hear the wurzels are making a comeback!
I think I have the worst. And I'm proud.
Johnny Hates Jazz with their groundbreaking smash 'Heart of Gold'. A song about a prostitute who turns out to be quite nice really. Truly truly bad!
Always start low. I mean, really, it's no good buying Space Oddity first up - it's all downhill from there!!
First single i actually went to the counter my self was probably the womble's when i was about 5
First single bought with my own money was maybe the 12" remix version of Eve of the War from War of the Worlds by Ben Leibrand
My first single was "Message in a bottle" by the Police. smile
"All around the World" by the Jam - still a classic to this day though admittedly not the best single they ever produced.
my first album was bros - push
and
my first single was sonia - youll never stop me from loving you

I'm still waiting for someone to admit that the first record they bought was Puppy Love by Donny Osmond  biggrin :D :D

That'll be me then lol redface
If you don't count the Wombles... redface
or my Mum's New Seekers single that I quite liked surprisedops:
The first record I ever bought was Sparks - Number One Song in Heaven
First album was one of those Top of the Pops ones you got in Woolies for Had all the hits by some dodgy cover band, and, more embarrasingly, a 70's bit of fluff on the front cover that I usually fancied.... there was a great radio doc on them a while back (the records, not 'modelles' from the 70's)!
BTW JesseP, I've got a Sondek and they're ace
Japes
I remember a Wombles record floating around too, but I didnt buy it so it doesnt count! biggrin
First records (that I bought myself with my own money smile)
Single...Everyday - Slade
Album...Kiss Alive II - Kiss

David Essex~~
My first two albums, both bought at the same time, were Iron Maiden's Powerslave and Black Sabbath's Paranoid, both on cassette tape (it didn't take long before I'd become a bit of a vinyl fiend though).
The first single was Metallica's Sad But True.
If memory serves it was "Funky Gibbon" by the Goodies....
I can't remember what my first single was but my first album was Motorhead when I was about 13. My parents loved it (not!!!)
I still have it AND I still play it. Guess I still have the mentality of a 13 year old!!! redface
WELL when I was lickle with pocket money I did buy "The Emperors new clothes" by Danny Kaye, and then some Bill Hayley stuff, and possibly Elvis P's "Blue Moon of Kentucky", and Nancy Whiskey's "Freight Train", but my real proper first record that I played till the outside rim fell off, yeah that much, you won't even know, it was called "Hula Love" and was sung by Buddy Knox. If you heard it, it would be worse, thankfully my musical taste improved.
the first record i bought wa snot fo rme but for my brother, I bought it with my own money. quite literally took my money box to the record shop, sat on teh steps and counted out in pennies to buy him Rush Permamnet Waves when it was released.
he still has it.
First single was "Hey you got to hide your love away" by Silkie
First LP was "Sergeant Peppers" by the Beatles (still in perfect nick)
LB
Black Sabbath's Black Sabbath
Uriah Heep's Demons and Wizards
dunno
they don't make me cringe, even my kids like em, hey i'm just a kewel kinda guy rotflmao

Oh the shame!

Oh FFS! I'm singing the damned song now
My memory is a bit hazy as it's well over 35 years ago
But it was either Sugar Sugar by the Archies, Two little boys by Rolf Harris, or Witch's Promise performed by Jethro Tull.
Of the three mentioned, only Jethro Tull have stayed with me all through the years. Still listen to them regularly. In fact bought a couple of their old albums on cd a few weeks ago.
Do you all remember the silly little middles in the 7 inchers that always used to pop out on the auto changer? mad
