Fish butties for dinner?
I don't believe in God etc and consider the bible to be a guide to life and a way of rationalising people's misunderstanding of their past at a time when the Big Bang hadn't been invented.
Saying that, I celebrate Christmas and Easter. I tend to see them as times when people make contact with each other and exchange gifts and/or pleasantries where they may not socialise much the rest of the year.
I send my children to a C of E primary school, although it is the only school available to them, and we occasionally go to church. I want them to learn 'Christian' values and also how to behave in those sort of situations. I will be attending the Easter Sunday service, but only because I am singing with the informal choir. We normally only sing at the Christmas carol service, but this year we're branching out!

I was raised a Catholic. I'm with my folks this Easter so yep, it's 'fish day' today as Good Friday was more often known in our house when we were kids.

I'm actually not sure why the no meat rule, but there you go! The daft thing is in our family - even when we were growing up - the majority of us preferred fish to meat so it was certainly no penance for us. Customs, religious or otherwise, are funny things aren't they?

my ex used to have fish finger butties (microwaved) after a night on the tiles ... microwave was the safety instructions i gave him cos he wasnt safe using the grill or frying pan after beer
wasnt it the fish on good friday traditionally because of the loafs and fishes story from the bible
friday is fish day at my mums every week ... chippy dinner was the treat of the week not only for us but also so she didnt have to cook or wash up
