Hi gang...
Had a trusty recipe book for flapjack but I cannot find it... my uneaten flapjack however is handy for repairing holes in your driveways or roads... is better than kevlar and is used by BNFL to line radioactive containers... smile Funny though that my brothers always request it..
75g (3oz) butter
75g (3oz) demerare sugar
100g (4oz) rolled oats
grease a shallow 7.5" square tin, cream the butter, mix together the sugar and oats and gradually work into the creamed butter until throughly blended. Press evenly into tin with flat bladed knife, . Bake in over at 220 c (425F) for about 15 mins, until golden brown, ensure even baking. take out of oven, cool slightly, mark into fingers with a sharpe knife, when firm break into fingers (says it makes 12)
Take to SH summer Bike picnic and what them vanish.
Happy baking (always knew that cook book one day would come in handy)
Oooh...
I don't know whether I should give you my secret recipe...
It is seriously good, but therein lies the danger. If I give you the recipe and you try it, you might not be able to stop eating it...
open you legs and allow your fire to heat up your lips for 10 mins
mix porrage oats, with some honey, butter, and some raisens, no need to add milk, your love juice will do it for you ;)
insert it inside
keep legs wide open, set your fire to a slightly low heat, and allow to bake inside for 30 mins
when time is up, remove and allow to cool

I had a very strange experience with flapjacks once that also involved a photocopier :gagged: .....
Don't you just love this site, you can literally ask anything and get someone who knows the answer lol
lol
sorry just thought i would mix it up a wee bit confused
Thanks Sarah... the version I had was you had to melt the golden syrup, butter and sugar then add the oats... cannot remember the ratio of ingredients though... I've took a gamble... but I think i may have used too much golden syrup... rock hard flapjack again! LOL
Alright then, I see I'm going to have to give you the recipe...
Take:
200 grams oats
100 grams butter
100 grams demerera sugar
100 grams golden syrup
1 medium pot full cream
Preheat the oven to 190 degrees C/Gas mark 5
Place the butter, golden syrup and sugar into a large pan and bring to the boil.
Add the cream and combine, then add the oats and mix thoroughly
At this point, you can add whatever other flavourings you wish. I particularly recommend crushed amaretti biscuits and a dash of amaretto.
Place the mixture into a deep sided baking tray lined with greaseproof paper. (makes it so much easier to get out) You can also divide the mixture into individual mini loaf tins, which saves you haviong to cut them into individual slices. (how handy)
Place in the oven and bake for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Leave to cool, then cut into individual slices and enjoy

The recipie I use (and, by an odd coincidence, I'm making some today, too):
100g butter.
75g demerara sugar.
4 table spoons of golden syrup.
275g rolled oats.
melt stuff. mix in oats. put into greased tray. back for 20 odd minutes. leave to cool.

Indeed I do. It's the cream in this recipe that makes the difference. You end up with beautifully moist, substantial flapjacks every time.
