I know redface sorry that this has been done before, however we are flying to Turkey tomorrow :scared:
Its bizzare really, I love the take off & the landing - its the thought in between that I am so far up in the air :scared:
As soon as I know we are decending, I start to relax.
Anyone any ideas?
I'll see you all in two weeks.
Stuart & Taninia, have a fab time kiss
Have a big big drink drinkies
Have a fab time and remember you have more chance of winning the lottery than you do of being in a plane crash kiss

smackbottom :giggle:
aircraft usually stay in the air because of the wings
generally they are attatched to each aircraft as a pair
one to either side of the plane... left and right as you face forward having boarded the plane.
If you should count two, on boarding or once settled, thats a good sign that all should be pretty much ok... there may well be a pair of smaller wings to the rear, quite possibly with a single-virticle fin/wing also... though I wouldnt want to complicatethe issue for you. relax.
mentioning the take-off being ok for you, it will do you well to realise that the wings, mentioned earlier, would have played a very large part in getting the plane air-borne... a quick count now, seeing two, should put your mind at rest for the remainder of the flight.
... so I understand....
chocks awayyyy

I'm exactly the same as you. Even though the descent is supposed to be the dangerous time, it's when I start to relax. It's the being right up there with miles of space underneath that I hate most. :scared:
I suppose that proves it's an irrational fear. dunno
Anyway, have a great holiday!
depends on how fast you are descending and if there's a mountain in front of you or not :-)
You're quite safe as long as you don't hear the announcement "Hello, I will be your captain for this flight and as soon as I've worked out what all these buttons do, we will be taking off" lol
I'm not afraid of dying, I just don't want to be there when it happens :-) (WA)
We spent £120 on therapy for my daughter, before going on our recent holiday, as she was a feckin nightmare the time before..........and it worked!! She sat listening to her relaxation CD, the therapist had made for her, whilst everyone was getting on the plane and that helped as well. Bit late in your case as she went a couple of weeks before we flew.

The most dangerous time is take-off. lose an engine in this phase of flight could be catastrophic. In a controlled descent, the plane will glide for a considerable distance if it lost all engines.
not saying anything on this as i build them and do maintenance on them too.......... but you be fine...... honest biggrin
I get a bit nervous flying too. I'll be flying on my lonesome on Friday too :scared: but I usually take a magazine or newspaper to occupy my mind.

I think I'd be more fearful of Turkey than the plane! rotflmao only kidding! it's just my one and only ever trip to Turkey landed me with a yukky belly for the whole week  , but I would try it again only a different part.
My mam's terrible for flying, she has to take "Kalms" which are a natural form of calming you down (homeopathic or something).. my own philosophy is as Blonde suggests, a damn good drink! :silly:

And if that doesn't work.... do it again! ;-)
