As my profile says - 'I'm an uncontrollable flirt'.
But as others have pointed out it does take different forms.
In it's lighthearted form it can be just a bit of fun between friends that I know well.
It can also be a form of 'fishing' - to see if the other party is receptive to my poor wit.
It can be a comfortable but serious way of raising the stakes when things are getting interesting.
I'll never do it with someone I know I don't like and I try not to with someone I think I don't like.
If I do flirt with someone, who doesn't react, I might try again but after that, I'll just check me pulse and move on!

That is the good thing about flirting, it can be done for fun and a laugh between friends. It can be, as Choon said, a way of testing the ground but in nearly all cases, I certainly think that it makes the person on the receiving end, feel good about themselves.
I vote to Carry on Flirting!

I don't flirt. I wouldn't know a flirt if one stood up in front of me and said
"Hi I'm a flirt how do you do"
What is flirting confused

I looked it up on but, to be honest, I'm left unsatisfied.
If it is a sexual sort of tease/c'mon/feelgood thing then I think i would shy away from flirting and run away from being flirted at. If however it was purely feel good factor, then lets all flirt as much as we can I love it when people feel good.

I am terrible at flirting IRL as I am so shy and not at all confident of my looks/body type etc....
And if someone is flirting with me in a subtle way then I have more chance of platting fog than recognising it redface

I do it to (mostly guys) that i dont find attractive but I just like to have a laugh and make them smile (there ya go thats me again...love to make people smile in here too)
If I can bring a smile to their faces and send them away happy, then I am happy....only the other day I walked into the staff room at work, where 3 of the maintenance workers were looking at some electrics (they were all 50-60 years old, portly, guys, just so -not-my-type) and all I said was..."god its like a totty fest in here"
They were so thrilled at being called totty, and laughed about how they were going to tell everyone they worked with they had been called totty!
I used to do the same when I worked in the theatres, flirted with the surgeons all the time, even the most miserable, shouty, grumpy ones, just so I could make em crack a smile. I never once had anyone not enjoy it or not appreciate it, or think I had overstepped the mark.
Here in the forums, I cant seem to do it so well, because of lack of visual clues (body language and so on) and also because with some there is that element of flirting cos I fancy them, and I guess Im just scared of rejection (does that make sense?? I cant seem to grasp for the right words to explain how I feel!) And I totall can NOT see indirect signals that someone is interested!
And as for the direct approach....hopeless at doing it!!! But prefer someone to do that cos then Im in no doubt LOL

I had a bit of a revalation at the weekend, Nat was down and we went out to a club (of the loud music variety) a guy was talking to me, I was talking back just thinking he was being nice rolleyes

Apparently he was flirting with me, my response was, 'Why would he be flirting with me, I don't fancy him'.
It would seem I only notice flirting when it's someone I fancy. And now I'm wondering, how d'you tell the difference between flirting and just being nice? It did make me feel a little uncomfortable, what do you do when someone flirts with you with the intention of it going somewhere and you don't recipricate, do you flirt back?
This is all new to me, I thought people were just friendly, blonde or what?
