Is it just me or does anybody else say something then spend hour or days regretting what you have said. Just a chance remark that you thought was innocent but eneded up hurting the one you cared about.
With regret, this is what I have done and do not know how to put it right. I now wish I had kept my big gob shut but the damage has been done. One day I will learn to keep it shut, but too late this time.

Sounds tough but damage is damage. We've all done it and then we are into the damage limitation game. Having said that genuine remorse (and it has to be genuine remorse) is sometimes really effective and can even improve what you had before but usually only when the hurt party wants it.
