Ah but if you boot from the XP CD and use the XP partition manager you are usually left with a choice of Boot partitions when starting the PC..

Not had that problem, but then again I've only done it on two different comps.
It's more a problem with NT but it does happen with XP if you re-install XP without using a DOS FDISK.
I must be lucky then, never had that happen when reinstalling biggrin
So can I use Fdisk after I have changed to NFTS or whatever it is NTFS, or am I better with something like partition magic?
Gilbert
If wiping an NTFS Volume I tend to use a Windows 98 SE BOOT DISK and FDISK from that (deleting the Non-DOS partition). It could be a case of belt and braces, but I haven't the time to redo it again if there's a problem. By running FDISK at least I'm starting with a clean slate, so to speak.
Now-a-days I tend to Ghost the drive once it is fully set up with all the service packs, patches and relevent way it only takes 20 minutes to do a complete re-install!!

Gilbert,
I would only use Partition Magic to resize a partition or to add a partition.
I'm a great believer in "doing the job properly" even if it takes longer. I've tried most of the "shortcuts" and found that, by and large, they are actually longcuts. mad
JQL if you a ghost man you got to check out GDISK, it comes with ghost and beats FDISK into a top hat smile
Have a nose through the help files and look for GDISK in your installed directory for ghost.
Is GDISK from the now defunct DRDOS?
No it is part of ghost's suite, they don't draw any attention to it. Think of it as a command line FDISK with FAT32 and NTFS support and quick format.
Ok it from my NT4 days but may still be there...
Just checked the Ghost directory (non of this folder crap) and GDISK is there. I'll give it a go sometime.
If I remember correctly didn't Symantec buy the rights to DRDOS. It was much more stable, and better (more options and switches), than M$DOS.
don't you love it when you half understand whats goin on?
Gilbert

I must admit that the best tool for fixing a reluctant PC is .... Old Faithful ... the 5lb Club Hammer!

So just to recap then - I want to be really really sure I've got it all clear -
Machine baste down the two stiches on each side of each side seam--I did an
11 inch armhole. Cut the middle stitch for the steek. Using CC pick up 90
stitches at shoulder, Work chart circularly beginning with ROW 7 for 85
rows.
At the same time:
Work even for first 5 rows.
Decrease 1 st each side of beginning of round every 4 rows until 50 st remain.
K 2 rows MC. Decrease 8 sts in last round.
Working MC, do K1 P1 rip for 5 inches.
Repeat for other sleeve.
