Mind you, it's not too pretty when those wily little frogs who think they're so smart misjudge the oncoming traffic and get splatted onto the road either lol wink

Frogger! I used to have that game biggrin
blast from the past there!!!
Oooh I used to love playing Frogger too!..
We used to keep frogs in a teranium in the house, but they died.
Hate 'em there just so slimy...
i just love kissing them some day my prince will cum.
Ahh, frogs and toads
Fascinating creatures both, in my humble opinion.
Being the somewhat proud owner of a well established wildlife pond / garden I have oodles of both and could sit and watch them for hours.
Take the she frog, the perfect swinger. She has no hang ups and during the mating season can be observed being serviced by several young gentlefrogs at once and loving every minute. Her embrace is gentle but firm and she certainly has a few tricks up her sleeve :rascal:
Although she comes perfectly camouflaged for her surroundings, its not until you take her out of her habitat that we see the glorious patternation and full glowing colours of her many different garbs. Her gowns are quite stunning. Not all for show this I might add, as has been mentioned, the she frog can capture her prey with the smallest effort, her camouflage is so good, her patience so endless that it is only a matter of time before her prey delivers itself within her reach.
The toad on the other hand is a totally different creature, drab and grey he has none of the attractive plumage or bouncing grace of the frog, he simply ambles along minding his own business, grubbing away for titbits of food and although this sometimes brings him into competition with our frog, they seem to co-exist quite happily.
These animals have many predators, the dog the cat the badger and the fox to mention just a few and seem to take the losses in their numbers in their stride without much fuss or kafuffle, such is nature.
However, when one particularly nasty hunter pays a visit, it seems to instil such vehemence in both Mrs Frog and Mr. Toad that I have seen whole hordes of these amphibians gang together, splash around and make the most appalling noise to distract and even frighten off this invader of their territory.
Who is this invader you wonder?
It’s the hated Grass Snake, (sliperious eelus)
A strange phenomena indeed and, as yet unexplained to me. So even the Frog and the Toad can, on occasion, make a quite formidable team.
Go figure dunno
i loveeeeeeeeee Frogs and Toads, and to wach them go about their daily routines is quite fasinating.
We once did a sort of Frog and Toad rescue.....they were trying to cross a road to get to a lake, but many were getting run over, so we went down, and evertime 1 started to cross, we picked it up and took it over safely....... was there for about 5 hours.
but we was happy in knowing they were gona have their nookie that year . hump
very valid point about the grass snake Pete they have there place in this world 2 picking on the poor old frogs but they are known to stand out by there sometime nasty odour
I'm very amused at the thought of amphibian armies in Pete's back garden... lol I had no idea such things went on.
The beauty of an urban childhood! wink
What?!
Seriously, this thread is turning into the stuff of nightmares: "pack forming creatures" and "amphibian armies" :scared:
I'm sooooo not loving the mental pictures!?!
They were never like this when I collected ceramic ones...
As well as collecting frogs as a kid, I also used to collect rubbers.
WTF?! dunno
ah the wee grass snake.....indeed an interesting creature.......snakes are way more my cup of tea!
did you know that if needs be they can play dead, lying on their backs for over 15 minutes, with their mouths open and tongue lolling out.
a very clever plan indeed and works very well, allowing them to fool their more dimwitted 'predators' into believing they are of no threat.

I don't feel so bad now... I collect sheep! :giggle:
They're currently taking over my flat. I used to just have them in the hall. Now I'm afraid to say, they're everywhere! redface
I also collect pebbles. I write on the back of them where they came from and put them in a jar. I have a piece of Mount Everest in my living room!
