Thinking caps on guys and gals.........
I'm doing a trek in October up the Atlas Mountains in Morocco to raise money for our local hospice. I've got some of the usual stuff arranged ( pub quiz nights, raffles, bag packing in the supermarket etc etc ) and have an online donation page set up ( pm me for the link and many thanks to those of you who've already donated btw kiss ) I've also had a few of my mates collecting in their workplace ( a few quid here and there from everyone soons adds up biggrin )
I'm looking for ideas for something out of the ordinary to do as well as the norm stuff so I'm hoping you lot can help me out.
For obvious reasons, it has to be CLEAN and NON SEX RELATED ! rolleyes
Thanks guys and gals
A lot of resturants do charity nights. Where they donate some of their taking to the people who organise a big meal.
i know you asked for clean and non-sex related but! ....
.. what about a snog auction at a Munch? I know it's worked well in the past. You'd have to confer with the Munch organisers of course and make everyone aware of where the money is heading,
Just a thought.

Put an inane item like a pebble on Ebay and start the bidding for 1p, but then tell people your story, even if you get £5 it's better that a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!
If you don't have an Ebay account let me know and I'll see if I can help.
Ooooh Ooooh I got a brill idea!! :bounce: Always wanted to do this! :bounce:
How about getting a few friends together, print some sponsor forms off - and have a
Sponsored Inflatable Date :bounce:
Get a cheap blow up doll, can dress it if you like, for a cleaner approach, and take your date out for the day and evening??
Will have to have a camera to hand, to take pics during the day as proof.
Maybe start the day off with a nice rowing boat ride, with a picnic for after? Can both be in matching Boater hats for that!! Just like Mary Poppins and Dick Van :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Evening can be a meal out somewhere, or a couple of drinks in the pub with a basket meal? Or clubbin!!!
Ooooh the opportunities are endless :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Don't have to spend a fortune on the dolls either - can pick these up for biggrin
confused :? :? :? :?
Missy!
I thought I was proof that care in the commumity worked.
rotflmao :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
For the summer months, maybe a BBQ where you can ask people to donate to the fund while YOU cook the food THEY bring.
Or, dress up in WW2 army unoform and have a sponsored potato peeling session, just make sure the peeled potatoes get used rather than wasted.

tats a shame .....was gonna say raffle off RPM......
I once did a 24 hour canoe marathon...
24 hours paddling between 2 bridges.. raised a fair bit! Was for a local lads kidney Machine.
Others did sponsored fancy dress.. On bloke went to work in nothing but a fig leaf for a day.. Bo Peep Grim reaper... You get the drift?
I did the Rob Roy Challenge last year... 16 mile walk and a 39 mile bike ride in the space of 12 hours! The charities who benefited were Cancer Research, Habitat for Humanity and CHAS. It was worth doing as we raised quite a lot. There were about 600 people who took part in it and it's running again this year if anyone is up this neck of the woods and is mad enough!
Never again! lol
However, when I worked at the local mental hospital (yes, I did say worked) I wanted to do something for the patients at Christmas time so I wrote a bucket load of letters to local businesses asking them to donate things for a raffle and I was amazed at the response I got. It just shows that if you don't ask you don't get. Worth a shot for the cost of a stamp.
But a snogathon is a great idea! :rascal:
Wish you all the luck in the world for your trek! smile
Sassy ............... I'll let you raffle Steve :rascal:
I am dead now bolt
Sam xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Oooooh now that sounds like bluddy good fun too  A homemade boat race :bounce:
Out of cardboard n stuff :bounce:
Not sure about the 24hr bit tho :undecided: Might be better to maybe do a 24 inch race, if we're talking cardboard n sticky back plastic here confused
Can even get the inflatable dates involved in that one :lol2:
Off topic question .......... what is Sticky back plastic anyway? Sellotape??? dunno

One slight flaw with that one Blonde...... You wouldn't raise much money hun dunno
Who is dead now?? :bolt:
Sassy - I tekked to Macchu Picchu in Peru last year, so wish you the very best of luck with your trek. Lots of the stuff I did has been covered here already but some other fundraising things I did were:
- dressed up in my supergirl outfit and went collecting round local pubs (had prior permission to do so)
- did bonus ball lottery at work - half the winnings went to the charity and half went to the winner - that was great earner and very easy!
- when you have finished your trek - arrange a cheese and wine evening somewhere where you can show a slide show of the pics from your trek and give a bit of info as to how the money raised will be used. You can either charge for entry to see slide show - or ask for donations.
Best of luck xxx
If none of the attendees object you are more than welcome to pass the bucket :rascal: at the pagan social hun, unless someone can come up with a more original idea for the event :lol2:
Cracking thing you're doing hun, and brave
I was chatting with a couple of peeps from the North East room, and we are having a social event in a couple of weeks. I will engage my brain, with the help of a few others, and see what we can come up with to do on the night, and whatever proceeds we get we will send on to you.
I think its wonderful that you are making so much effort, and that should be rewarded by us doing the same. Will let you know how the discussions go, and hopefully we will be able to send you something towards your mission.
Bloke has already offered to kiss the men, but sadly they have to be the sexy ones, not the ones with money!! Not sure that will get us much, but hey, every little counts lol
