Yesterday I was browsing throught the Forum and came across the question ' If you found out that the female of a couple was an escort ..........'. Now quite clearly it is stated that the female is the escort, but I wondered that if the word 'escort' was said in isolation would we immediatly assume that the gender was female?
Another thread I followed concerned people being here without their partners knowledge or consent. The general feeling of the thread was that the gender doing this is male. In fact when one mentions adultery one immediatly assumes that the gender is male.
This got me to wondering, that even in this enlightened age and sexual equality,
Just how many gender stereotypes still exist?
