So we are talking Elephants without trunks......doesn't that kinda mean they aint Elephants in the first place?

Doh!
Right i've been told i have to go to bed.....so the answer to the elephant question is they swim at a top speed of 2mph
It took 174 years to build The Leaning Tower of Pisa........it will probably take Wembley longer!

It's a trick question, she doesn't wear any!
Having seen a male elephant's wedding equipment, the tame elephant in speedos, and presumably swimming in an olympic sized, smooth bottomed pool, would have a distinct advantage over the wild elephant swimming in a weedy bottomed pool. Unless of course the elephant was female in which case the indoor pool vs the outdoor pond shouldn't affect performance.
As to whether Indian or African elephants would swim fastest, it depends on whether their ears would act as flippers or sea-anchors. If the former, then the African should have the edge, but the latter would definitely benefit the Indian.
As to the speed ...dunno

Filmed in its entirity on the Isle Of Wight, the film Spartacus used 3102 extras. Every resident of the Abbotts Hills estate over the age of fourteen was given a role and was kitted out with a full costume of the period which they were allowed to keep, a tremendous source of Pride to the Blackley's that have run the Bakers in the shopping precinct and who still to this day, bake their bread whilst wearing a half breast plate, armlets, shin guards, a single gauntlet and either a net or trident slung over their left shoulders.
...as an aside their bread is shite.
