What is the name of the statue in Piccadily Circus?
Quote by Drewxcore
What is the name of the statue in Piccadily Square?

Barry.
Uhmm... 'The Angel of Christian Charity'. It was misidentified as Eros some time ago and the name seems to have stuck.
Isn't there some stocking filler/toilet book coming out which is full of all sorts of facts, truths and myth-debunking? I think they did an excerpt from it in one of the nationals and this was one of the 'myths' they flagged up.
They also listed the origins of the 'V' insult which is one of my favourite stories. If people kept making all these interesting anecdotes and rarely known factoids general public knowledge then my USP (ie being nerdishly informative) is buggered.
However am I going to entertain the ladies at dinner parties...?
Cheers

I did mean Piccadily Circus (i edited my post) however all guesses have so far been wrong, People assumed it was a statue of Eros when it in fact wasnt. In order to protect the good name of the architect that designed the statue a rumour was spread that it was the angel of charity, this was however untrue.
Good guesses so far, keep guessing.
It's Eros brother Anteros?? spelling
Unrequited love and selfless love I think, it was put up to honour Lord Shaftsbury.
