Geocaching

Very new i only found out about it when I googled after reading your post and thought to myself hey this would be great for the kids and now have found some, where you got to solve puzzles to get the gps co-ordinates so i've left them with the kids that if they solve them we can go look lol

Been to two of yours, I'm gutted I'm not that memorable

You are TOO memorable, what I mean was, you have not got lost (yet) following my directions!
Oh, shur up, you know what I meant redface
I see the damn roo is pissed again and talking crap lol.
Bagged my first cache, now planning hikes and bike rides to find more. Packing a baseball bat in my rucksac to ward of nosey kangaroos.
Aaaaagggghhhhh....can't believe I haven't been here for ages and there's a 2-page thread on geocaching in my absence.
I'm not addicted...honest..and neither is Harry...but we do tend to find ourselves most weekends up some glen, or dale, or valley or somefink, searching for tupperware!
We're into quality ( walks, darling ) over quantity, so haven't found huge numbers like the real pro's. But we've done quite a few all the same over the last few years.
Harry has already suggested some 'adult' themed caches, but don't think we'd get them past the reviewers.
Can't believe my fave site and my other fave site have crossed paths.
If you are in danger of becoming addicted, just wait til you set loose a Travel Bug....that's it.....!!!!
I love my Geocaching biggrin myself & Stileto have been caching in some really nice beauty spots..
Once your got a gps & joined the geocaching sites Missy one of the big things for some people is the First to Find!!!!!
When someone adds a new cache location to the network it comes up on the site to say its new & up for grabs!!! where upon cachers are down loading the co-ordinates & charging out of the house at all hours of the day or night to get there name in the logbook 1st I think at our last count we had 21 first to finds wink

One of our Travel Bugs has just come back from a tour of Australia & ended up traveling a bit in Finland & we just got a message today to say they were taking it to Nice next!!!

That gives me a great idea - wouldn't it be good to have a geo munch!!!! :bounce: Just give out the clues and the e=mc² GPS thingy and off we all go!! :bounce:

Another one in this thread that finds me less than memorable, this can be found on page 1 of this thread:

Why not expand on it
Geomunches, and geodogging smile
Instead of the old routine of sending out the muinch venue, have people geocaching, to find their way to pre-munch and munch :)

Clearly you are distracted by something

Bugger!! I did see it, but my geomunch was very less kinky than your geodogging idea :lol2:
I would make the geomunch with proper harder to find clues tho - as opposed to the geodogging, where I would practically give you the answer and exact spot and phone you up to make sure they were deffo gonna get there and how much longer were you gonna be  :lol2:

3 more in the bag today

Go go Davinaaaaaaaaah!!!! :bounce:

Bluddy brilliant!!! :bounce:
I soooooo want to do it NOW!! I think my brother got wind of me wanting to borrow his GPS, cos he's buggered off far away for a couple of weeks, taking it with him!
kiss
After reading this on friday (never heard of it before) sad thought it sounded fun so been out today found 4 and a TB biggrin had a great day im hooked
I've just bought myself a GPS to have a go at geocaching, so thought I'd better check out where the nearest ones were to break me in gently lol .
anyway, logged onto the website and did a search for local ones, when it gave me the details for one which I knew to be a local dogging site!
One of the comments for it was -
"Found with xxx on a night-caching adventure(!)
This one was a pig. A vague clue and a slippery location with lots of nettles!!
I'd considered giving up a couple of times, having muttered the phrase 'I grow weary of this cache' at least twice. One last look with a poky stick and I found it. Nice one.
Tried to act nonchalant as we made our way back out of the woodland to the carpark, past the guy sitting in his car. Oddly enough he was looking away too. All very innocent I'm sure."
rotflmao :rotflmao:
I can see this is gonna be great fun!!!
Mal
wink
rotflmao Oh Mal :rotflmao: Didn't think blokes could multi task, you're gonna be the exception to the rule..... just don't try and put your signature on the couple out dogging, and for crying out loud, don't get your dick out at the pair of ramblers out cache hunting
We finally tried it, a local one as still don't have a GPS and not the best navigator at the best of times confused so chose a cache in an area we know well.
It was brilliant!!! :bounce: So excited when we found it :bounce: Tried not to draw attention to the cache to non geocachers, so we were just sat there grinning our heads off to everyone until there was a quiet moment, when we could grab the cache and sign it!
I do so hate being suckered into anything.
I think I may have just been suckered in.
It was the location of the Hex'd tree at Alton that did it....the kids were only asking the other day if it was still standing.
Any tips on the best website (other than this one) to join much appreciated
is good -- put in your postcode and it will list the caches nearest to you
This is so addictive lol, 58 in the bag to date. Planning a bike ride in the Arnside area for Sunday to increase the tally.

the user name was easy

why not just go for a walk............... rolleyes
A great walk and 7 caches in the bag today as well as picking up 3 travel bugs.
And to cap it all the weather behaved perfectly.....so if anyone takes the p*** out of my red nose in chat later there will be trouble.
75 since April, one FTF and still not using gps it's great fun. Tomorrow off to Entwistle for the day.
Another nice 5-6 miler today, picking up two caches and another 3 TB's.
Anyone reading the official website forum will have seen ads for the mega event......what a scream to have a mini social-ette fitting in with it!
Hi Ho......
I have been doing these for a while now, and have set about 20 or so... some easy, some hard..... Any one done any puzzle caches? have a go at this one, it's a music quiz cache...

The only two sites you will ever need biggrin
UKGeocachers can supply your Travel Bugs, Geocoins and other trackables.
Much better than using the USA sites.
Oh and geocaching opens up so many new areas you would never have spotted before. We found some nice "alfresco" areas near where we live, only by geocaching.
Obviously, shouldn't shag near a cache, but the hidden areas of beauty are worth the effort.

Excellent service from UKGeocachers. I just bought a whole load of travel bugs and cache supplies for some new caches from them and they arrived the next day.
We could have a SH travel bug and let it go on its travels and see where it gets to!! lol
