When safe sex is required, what do you do for oral?

Always use a dam
No oral, hate dams
Never give oral anyway
Give oral without a dam

At the risk of sounding stupid... I've just been thinking about the mechanics of safe oral sex.
I assume giving safe oral sex to a woman involves using a dam. Having never used one I'm wondering if it puts people off giving oral?
I guess you lose out on some of the senses (esp taste, and maybe some touch too), ties up your hands that could be doing something more exciting and it sounds complicated too - esp to me as a guy as we can't do two things at once! rolleyes
Or am I being silly, it's simple and everybody is doing it?

If it's irrelevant how come it's the most chosen option! I'm getting the feeling that when safe sex is required then condoms are used during shagging but often nothing is used for oral. It surprised me - but hey I'm not going to judge anybody.

I've never seen anybody ever use a dam or had anybody ask me to use a dam for performing oral on the lady/ladies in a club,party or a private get together be that 1 on 1 or threesome or whatever.I am not saying that is a good thing but it does appear that most O is done without for penetrative play are pretty universal but dams seem to be a rarity.
