Would there be any merit in having an Arena where you can post "slag off" messages? This would leave the Cafe free for more interesting and interactive topics.
Just a thought.
dunno

They had one in d-d's forum called the nutters room. It really was the pits and was not a good advert for that site.

lol
We can't do it, I'd get too carried away, and as I spend too much time on here already I don't think it would be a good idea. I'd get sacked from my job and my family would dis-own me
Good idea in theory, but emotions are such that they would stay with the poster no matter where they post. This can be seen from the waty one thread has contaminated others in here in the past few days. smile

In all seriousness, I was thinking of a sticky like where I, err, you, have to post webcam ads on LMU.
I mean, it could be fun if you want to slag it out in there with someone, but if you post outside of that sticky it gets deleted by the mods.
It might spare everyone else the constant bumping of a thread that's just boring and negative.
No apologies to anyone who might feel offended by this suggestion.
Thanks all

Why stop there? you could arenas for-
Group hugs
inane drivel
in jokes
debates
leaving
returning
complimenting avatars
what car you drive
what job you have
how rich/poor you are
what your doing tonight/this weeend etc
RIP
Sexual queries
Slagging off single males
defending single males
defending your lifestyle
sarcasm
wit
best film/music/
Lets make a rule that you can never disagree or question a statement. Lets agree that if what you are going to say may offend or upset someone in any way that you dont post it.

Greetings Sibling Calista - I would just like to add on a personal note my own admiration for what you are doing for us (I like your new avatar pic. ) lol

Like this? The Steam Room,
The only problem was, nobody used it! lol
Possibly because when someone has something to say that they feel strongly about, it is natural to want others to see it. Perhaps having a little thread off to the side which allows you to have your say without anyone noticing does not meet this need. dunno
lhk
Had to go in and change this when it suddenly clicked I could just link to the original post redface

No how about a rule that says "whilst you may not agree with what the poster say's always remember that it is better to do it in a way that is polite and thought out instead of in a personal and abusive way" In other words RESPECTFULLY....
Oh hang on... Isn't that how we should treat everyone IRL??.... Oh yeah now I remember.... "Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself"
In all seriousness it's probably not a good idea.
It would almost encourage people to bitch, and that's not good for any community really.
We should just all love each other!

On other websites it's called the Soapbox forum - anything goes slag off forum where participation marks you as fair game. Kinda works in a few places but wouldn't work here IMO. Apart from anything else, it would be the thin of a wedge of diversification. Yeah, I know, diversity is what SH is all about, but it's diversity within a specialised area, namely sex. This is at heart a special interest website, and creating any new forums not directly concerned with that would, I believe, dilute the essence of SH with splinter groups. I hesitate to use the word cliques, but I think you know what I mean.
If it aint broke don't fix it, and I for one don't think it's broke. biggrin

That sounds similar to something Tony Blair might say in defending the Iraq war against critics. A worrying development for SH.
Come on, we are adults and we need to behave accordingly so that new people coming into the fold will not get the wrong vibes. We have had some great munches and super general meets and parties so lets build on that. Many of us know each other personally so lets get back to where we used to be.

The problem with this Judy is that you are assuming, it would appear that most of the 1000's of people who contribute to this site have been to the same munches you have or indeed have any interest in attending said munches, and I know this won't be popular but any interest at all in mixing with the regular crowd. If this is a site only for those who choose to mix with the forever 'we are united' crowd, then really it should be stated in the blurb.
I have always understood and more hoped, this site to be for those who swing, and not solely for those who swing and agree with the predominant opinion of the day. It maybe time for those who moderate the site (and I ain't looking for a mod battle), and who hail from the 'united crowd' to consider what keeps this site so fresh. It is the newcomers, and the last thing a newcomer needs to see is a crowd of inward looking individuals gloryfying intolerance of opinion.
What surprises me when anyone mentions the topic of being allowed freedom of speech on this site is the tirade of sentimentality from those who oppose it. If threads were to exist on this site that god forbid may cause offence then I would say to those of you who have an aversion to freedom of speech
"DON'T CLICK ON THEM, AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS, BUT LET THE REST OF US HAVE AN ADULT CONVERSATION"
