when I'm not swinging I'm swinging. Anybody play?
At the ripe old age of 40 have just started!
Played my first 18 hole course two weeks ago and went round in 108- I was chuffed!
glad to hear u are enjoying it. Time spent at the driving range will help and make it more fun
Have not played for about 3 months. Went to the driving range a few weeks back and it shows
Going on a golf weekend at the end of september so got to get some practice in soon. I was playing off 21 (I know I could do better) with my m8s but not a member of an club, so it is an unoffical handicap. When I next play will probably need to go up to 28. Bandit time.
Hi Anthony, I'm not a golfer myself, but there are some golfers here, and an SH tournament has been arranged - see here:

Good luck if you're able to join in.
Golf...how aweful lol
When I was 16, I went round a local course in 97...well pleased. 25 years later, went round another course in 160. mad redface It was aweful weather though, so thats my excuse.
........think i'll stick to shagging

glad to see some people playing, my golf is improving after a 3 year break due to illness.
Just back from the driving range and I'm well pleased.
I may not have a love life but at least I can play golf (in my own special way).
Will join in with the golfers if I can

I'm just starting at 41!!!!! Had a couple of enjoyable sessions on a driving range on me hols and then her indoors bought me 6 half hour lessons for my birthday a couple of weeks back. Really looking forward to it.
loved it!! used to play off scratch at 14. spent most of my days on the course and was going to play it professionally..... then discovered women and beer rolleyes
Loved the game. driving ranges were to short wink but it cost a fortune in balls due to my style of play. (no I didnt lose em)Used what were balata balls.... very soft and got eaten by the clubs and I would use 12 per round... at £3 a pop it got expensive!
Havent played for years but will be when I move back to australia this year... gotta put this £1k's worth of gear to use!
I have to get some that suit my play now I'm back on the course
I don't play - but my ex does.
I noticed over time that he saved far more shots per round when he improved his chipping than when he improved his driving. So once you can keep the ball on the fairway - swap the driving range for (or add) the chipping practice. He got to the point he could chip into a flower pot at 20 feet. And almost as well at 40.
One thing we did find out - the ball nets don't catch smaller stones - he took a double glazed window out when gravel went stright through the net. :lol2:
have hit the odd window myself previously - I managed one time to hit it a bit hard and it headed straight for the dining room window. It hit the frame in the middle. How lucky!!!
I think it's a middle aged thing.

I know someone who'll be flattered that you said that!
when did I become middle aged?
At least I've managed to redeem myself a little by finding a woman to join me in playing (away from the golf course). 2 years is too long to be celibate

You sure haven't matey. Balata balls don't wear out anything like as fast as that nowadays and when they did they didn't cost £3 a go. Most of the pros'd make a ball last a couple of holes - so 12 a round is going some. You have illegal grooves on yer irons - get rid of 'em. wink lol
