It's a B.A.C.O.'s tabard equi.
B.A.C.O. is an acronym for Breathing Apparatus Control Officer. The tabard is to identify the firefighter carrying out this function on the fireground. Entry control is part of the procedures involved in wearing B.A. (Breathing Apparatus) which have been developed primarily as safety procedures. The initial impetus for B.A. procedures originated from a fire at Smithfield meat market in London in the 1950s when 5 firefighters were killed searching a basement level. At the time no procedures existed for wearing B.A.
Basically they were unable to find their way out of a cold store room and died when they ran out of air and suffocated in the toxic basements of the building were heavily smoke-logged at the time. :cry: :cry:

I think this is a good question - the first pic looks like military helmet too, I think he has a pic of a military firefighter during the last fire strike - and that looks like a moustache, missing in the second pic. He knows about pump pressures, ladder weights etc., and is either real or military/ex-military!
