I think the lure of friendship drives many to return because for all the site has, warts and all, it has friends who can broach many subjects and reasons, and characters. In the end if you are on a caravanning forum, you cant really discuss diverse subjects like on here??
My twopenneth anyhow?
denise........erm.......yes!!! lol
neil x x x x x
perhaps people confuse real world stress with swinging/membership stress, and decide to leave, then realise they should just lighten up a bit, and remember that this site mostly consists of good people and good mates.......or something! ;-) dunno
or it could be just the fact that this place is so bloody addictive that people try to make the break and fail miserably... lol
oh the very weak willed!!!!! biggrin :D :D :D :D :D
grooverider........erm.....that too :lol2:

judy, as a "lifer" you are entitled to your OWN cell!
i know thats true, cos i watched an episode of "bad girls" once!
lol
The way to leave a board is to suddenly realise you've not looked at it for a few months, not to carry on the covnversation - even if you are temporarily changing the subject of the conversation to your possible departure.
Curiously enough I think this is quite a complex area.
There's the 'let's see how popular I am' merchant.................................. - 0 points
God I'm pissed off with people/what's just happened/I'm being ignored.. - 1 point
I'm thinking of leaving but I'll just see what the reaction is..........................- 1 point
I'm really thinking of leaving but haven't made up my mind yet....................- 3 points
I've got to break this habit.......... Oh shit - look I've come back....................- 5 points
I'm really leaving and I want to say goodbye to everybody (this one goes) - 7 points
Gone..............................................................................................................- 8 points
Gone but quietly PMing one's real friends(swearing them to secrecy).........- 10 points
I'm sure some will disagree but.... lol
Is 10 points a good score or a bad score? dunno
I personally feel that all this saying goodbye publicly does nothing but pull the mood of the forum down. I understand why people do it and I truly believe it's for the popularity and sympathy vote. Well you know where Sympathy is in the dictionary.......between Shit and Syphilis and you won't get them off me neither!!

rotflmao :rotflmao: :rotflmao: Back with a vengenance Wilma!!
Actually we have had 3 long term members leave in the past week and they have done so with dignity and love. Those whom they wanted to know got PMs or phonecalls. They are better thought of for it too. And if you're reading this (sneaky) then we still love you all!! x xx

I have to say there is a bloody great part of me that agrees with you - but a couple have been welcome, just for the chance to say goodbye.

I

Good. Obvious or what??
Yippee, I've got more points than England! :P
It's funny, you know..........
I've noticed each time we have one or two "leaving" posts in a short space of time we have nearly as many posts about the leaving threads as the threads themselves !! wink lol
I'm guessing this whole thing can be summed up in 3 easy points:-
1) People care about those on the forum due to what a fine bunch it is and therefore post a goodbye message due the feeling of severing things.
2) The bunch see one of the fold going and and like to get one final hurrah in with them.
3) I over analyse things far too much

Why do some people place posts saying they are leaving and goodbye etc etc and then not actaully leave....... i find it strange, is it that maybe they said bye in haste and missed it so returned.
Enlighten me?????

As others have mentioned, some just want to see the "Oh please don't go" responses, some are genuinely peed off about something and are just letting off steam, and some are just leaving because it's time to move on. I think you can tell who's not really leaving by the vociferousness of the "leaving" post: The really whingey ones are obviously coming back to read the responses. biggrin
