for goodness sake... if you don't like what you find and you have chosen anything that people may relate to you then change your username. Admin charge a fee of approx (well that is what it I think it cost me to change mine)
It is really only an issue if you want it to be.
eg. My ex knows that the word 'splendid' makes me laugh. If she pieced together that and the fact that I swing.. and then also managed to find my advert she would recognise the picture on the advert that I have and may also recognise my nether regions off my avatar. Then, for it to be any real issue, she would have to prove it were me. From there, what could she do................mmmmm I have no idea. She could 'tell on me' but as no-one in my life would really care less it wouldn't be an issue.
I presume that those who have an issue with security and jobs etc.... would be even more discreet and would use words and pictures that are untraceable.

So what if this has been done before. There will be new members who do not realise that their ads can be seen by anyone and as no site is 100% secure despite the claims it will encourage people to take extra care to protect them selves.

100% secure vs functional website, what is the point you are trying to get across?
That quite clearly to claim any website is 100% secure is misleading. I would have thought that would have been obvious, but then I would have thought it obvious that no site is 100% secure in the first place.

Why would that be obvious? I like many others would presume your bank website is 100% secure? Or are you saying that a bank website details of any sort can be accessed through Google? Think not.
We have just done what everyone should do that choose to show facial pictures on their adverts, put them in your private gallery!! We do not care if people can view our adverts but...we do have a problem with " strangers " viewing our advert pics. We never thought for a second that they could be viewed outside of SH, but no doubt other more clever people will think that was " obvious ".
Actually Im really upset
People can just use the internet and search on google and come up with my profile details confused: :?: :?:
Well my flippin complaint is why isnt my mailbox bursting at the seams with offers :?:
...................................ok, ok, dont answer that

100% secure does not mean 'cannot be accessed through Google'. If you are unaware of the various security lapses by banks then Google can help there as well, though obviously financial institutions can afford much better security than SH can.
I agree that since I work in a related field what is obvious to me might not be to others. I believe that the 100% secure claim should be removed, and a page explaining just what is available to non-members be provided to let less Internet-savvy members make a better judgement about what they include in their publicly accessible information.

Did a Search for mines and got 197,000 pages.

Am I famous?
Quote by google
Results 1 - 10 of about 124,000,000 for Ian

and that was a genuine search too !
Not as famous as me!!!
"Results 1 - 10 of about 673,000,000 for Mal"
Mal
wink
just a thought for the worriers....when googling ensure you have safe search off,in your preferences, it kinda opens the net up to reveal all the little nasties about you then....image search can be fun too..results for "wild rose and the stag" image search on google about ten and nowt for us to give a hoot about, with moderate safe search enabled its a big fat zero results..
now off you all go and lose sleep over it... lol
btw regarding the 'its been done before ' remarks, who cares if its been done before , ive never read it before, and im sure members that signed up yesterday havent read it before, what the hell does it matter if its been done a hundred times before...ffs the steam room is the same old crap on a daily basis yet its tolerated ...take a chill pill

A very good idea! Members then would know and understand the situation. If this issue is on the sign up page or the home page, then all members that are not aware, could make their own decisions on whether or not to put pics on their adverts. At least that way people will know.
im gonna count to ten and then check to see if its been done...123 ....................it aint gonna happen is it?

Why should it? People don't read the site rules and other info now, why should they read anymore info we put up for their benefit???

Not defeatist, fact. I also never tarred anyone. I never said 'everyone', I said 'people'.
but the benefit would be for all the others that dont fall into your 'do not read ' category, wouldn't it, i cant see your logic,
oh well , enough said as far as im concerned on this topic .
I really can't see a problem here.
Most people joined the site after viewing the threads and most of the content, by observing as non members. they were seeing an open forum. By doiong so they were able to spectate at first; and then eventually became members. Right?
They viewed this by doing what now appears to be considered as 'a breach of confidentiality or security'.
Now why has that idea suddenly come about?
Did becoming a member somehow change your status, so that you can now consider prospective members as intruders on your 'privacy'?
Sheez.......................... rolleyes
This issue was brought up a few years ago, when Mark was still the top dog.
hes expliantion to it was, certain parts of the site needs to be open to the "spiders" so that it attacts people to it. if the site was completed protected from search engines, then people would find it hard to find the site.
end of the day.... how did most people find Swinging heaven.... i'm guessing most used google in the first place.
luckly for me Jiggle brings up a million and one results, so i'm guessing SH will be where in the middle, my old user name did bring SH to the top.
