it might be more interesting than you guys think....
because news has just broken that the 3 cars just above hamilton (2 bmw's and a williams) are now being investigated for "fuel irregularities" by the stewards....
if they are dq'ed (and apparently it has been done before) then hamilton could move up.....then all hell breaks loose
yeh fabs, hamilton would actually become the champ then, taking the title off raikkonen. wonder where the ethics would lie then????? x

What ethics dunno
I was on the edge of my seat, but this year has been a terrible year for McLaren. Perhaps I'm paranoid but one did get the feeling that McLaren were being targetted by Max Mosely and his motley crew.
However, although I'm really disappointed that Lewis didn't get it this year, I'm really pleased that Kimi got the title. After coming so close with McLaren in previous years he's knuckled down and worked really hard, and really deserved it.
Ultimately I'm just glad Alonso didin't get it. His incessant whining and whinging all year has seriously pissed my off. I just hope McLaren get rid of him or, failing that, take him to the back of the garage and give him a good kicking.

My Problem with this years result is that I don't like Ferrari.. however.. I've always like Kimi for some strange reason or other... So was chuffed for him...
and have to say, that the whole season had a little more spark some of the recent years.
all-round good stuff.

Same here and little did they realise that when the bought this years constructors title from the FIA they would get the drivers title thrown in for free rolleyes
Sorry but fuel irregularities should be treated with exclusion as Kimi was in 1997...
Regardless of any advantage gained or not ....

Couldn't agree more guys. However could some body answer this question for me?
Ferrari? FIA? What's the difference?

Have to agree here... a seriously nice bloke I have had the opportunity of sharing a bottle of vodka with after the Malaysian grand prix a few years ago. He is the most down to earth driver in the series I recon.. and loves a drink lol.
Mike
If he bought the drinks he can't be a real racing driver. 99% of them have short arms and deep pockets.. lol   .....or they never have money on them because they are in their race suit.

Was the day after racing.. well early hours after anyway and the most of the team came in this small bar we were in, he was with them and yes he bought the drinks as cheap as they were lol .. We chatted.. and he seemed as normal as anyone else ever does. Fun guy seeking a laugh thats all... Gave us loads of stuff too so generous too!
Mike
Considering all that has gone on this year, the FIA have ended up with the championship ending they deserve - farcical!
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that if the fuel offences had been found in any but the last two races of the season then BMW and Williams would have been dq'd with no compunction whatsoever.
The FIA wave wilfully attempted to 'mould' this years outcome. Kimi was able to keep his win in the opening race, in Australia, on a 'technicality' - despite running a car which did not conform to regulations.
Strange that the FIA (and their stewards) can punish one breach where advantage gained is unquantifiable - with 'no action' taken - yet another breach where advantage gained is unquantifiable - with a $100M and stripping of constructors points.
Bad for the image of the sport and bad for the sporting spectacle.
I have no particular axe to grind against any of the drivers concerned (I've met all three over the years), but the non consistent way in which sanctions are applied is utterly offensive to the spirit of fair sporting contest.
It was a nightmare for me yesturday as the ferry had no tv coverage only a dvd to watch movies, which is what we did. There was a group of people near us chatting very noisly so we could not hear the movies very well (the boat was huge and not that full so they could have gone any where)
I recorded F1 on plus box and all wasa great till about half way through when someone walked and loadly shouted Kimi had one the race  mad :x
Managed to not hear the rest, 5 mins before we docked 2 guys sat right next to me and started to chat about it again, all i got was Kimi winning and something about 18th place before I got me fingers in my ears and left.
Eventually got home at 1am could not wait and watched the race  bizarre if you ask me never heard of a gearbox with different settings on it.
Theres conspiracy theory going around that said Hamilton was never going to win the championship and it would be handed to Kimi, this was posted on the week BEFORE the race.
Not sure what to think myself do think something very strange going on and all is not as it seems, but veiwing figures have just been released and have hit a 7 year high.
me cynical dunno
not sure how I feel about a sport I love so much any more. sad

It's a shame that the sport is now overrun with suspicion and conspiracy theories, but isn't it interesting how whatever the controversy Ferrari always come out smelling of roses.
Suspicious? Moi?

Yes I was puzzled by this too!
However as I understand it I think he was suggesting that they have a series of pre-programmed gear ratios, and that it's possible to switch between them when necessary. Maybe they thought there was a glitch in the software that only affected one particular setting.
Anyway as it turns out it seems they ended up re-booting the system and whatever it was cleared.
confused: :?: :?:

In order to have more than 1 set of gear ratios they would need more than 1 set of gears so I cant see that being the reason...
What I think the problem was was a software problem with regards to the actual shift mechanism as it is all computer activated (via hydraulics) and as already said a system reboot cleared the problem(as it sometimes does with a home pc)
