My daughter had her lovely long hair cut off yesterday. She's had a trendy hairstyle that makes her look so much older (she's 16). She brought home the ponytail that they cut off. I remember doing the very same thing myself and feeling very grown up. Many years later and I know I hadn't, then. I still do things that aren't very 'grown-up', but I blame the fact that I'm with children all day!
My question: how do you know when you've grown up?
I'll never know. I'm more grown up now than I was say 10 years ago, but there will always be some residual "kid" in me I suppose....
someone mentioned something similar recently in here. personally i think i grew up to early and im now in regression.
or is that just a mid life thingy :giggle:

we all have an inner child. My daughter goes mad coz she says I show her up
Is it me that only does the singing n dancing in the rain :giggle:
I still don't feel grown up, and I don't really know what grown up feels like.
I do remember being 16 when I decided to leave home and move in with Mr NWC with everyone saying I was not old enough to make that sort of decision. At the time I felt very 'grown up' and was very anoyed that someone older than me thought they knew best (but it has been good to prove them wrong when they said we were too young). wink
Maybe now Im going through my teenage years, I always do things back to front lol

I remember seeing a couple (I was about 18yrs old) dancing nakkid in the rain on a small patch of green.... all the homes surrounding it are where all the local TV celebs live. Sure he read the local news and the lady was the local yoga teacher  confused lol
Still have my daughters 14in plait from when she had her hair cut shortish for the first time.. smile
we never grow up
if we did we would be fed up all the time...........
I feel like a grown up but im doing my best to fight it off. But having a mortgage and the occasional attack of broodyness (when I visit my friends and there cute as a button daughter) keep me a boring old fella.

Our eleven yr old daughter (looks more like 15) is such a good mate to me. I dunno how i'm going to take the 'I hate you' years and believe me i know they are coming. At the moment i think rather than me never growing up it is she who seems grown up.
I love her stuff. I mean, she does the things that i dearly love her to do. She is individual and unique. She loves my type of music such as Floyd and Zepplin Joni Mitchell n Janis Joplin and i like hers Son Of Dork, Greenday as well as all the girl bands though to be honest she doesnt really know why i like them as much as i do! lol she dresses like a hippy complete with headbands and flared Cords!!!- PURPLE ONES!!!! and sandals sometimes even a hat.
She takes joy in simple things like staring and making shapes out of clouds and saying the sweetest things to people she thinks need cheering up. And hugging............. everybody rolleyes .
Dont get me wrong she is a pain in the arse martyr (like her mum bolt) at times. but mostly she is just a bit too dhilled out and pleasant to be my daughter. confused: :!:
I think being a man and growing up are two different things. I wasnt a man until i reached 25 i reckon Then i became a man. But as to growing up? Long as i like the music that my kids like.... Nah i ain't growing up

Me? Grow up? Never ! :giggle:
Sometime, but not as often as before, I reflect on my life and it scares me that I have actually grown up.
Do people realise that I am wholly responsible for an 8 year old child, running a home and looking after myself and my finances etc etc???
Like I say, it doesn't happen so much now, but it used to puzzle me that no one had come knocking on my door to take it all away.
I suppose it means I am growing up. confused
Grow up? No, not me! My children are grown-up, mature, responsible and sensible. I've done that, been there, got the T-shirt - don't intend to do that again!
I think being a grown up is one of the great conspiracies of our time. confused We are all expected to behave like grown ups and be adult about things, but deep down or not so deep down we are still children inside. I don't think I changed much since I was 7 or 8, I've just got better at pretending. biggrin
I always worry about people who seem to enjoy being old and say things 'what can you expect when you get to our age'

Yeah I think you have somethng there keeno
Grow-up, do not do it. It costs too much and is less fun than you think.
I used to think, when I collected children from school with older friends that had them, that I would never recognise mine when I came to do the school run for my own child (they all looked the same to me). I grew up the day I picked my first child up from school after his first day and knew who he was just by seeing the top of his head bobbing along the corridor behind a window.
