I just wondered if any other women or men with long hair has this problem:
washing hair in shower with just shampoo= no hair falling out
washing hair in shower with shampoo then conditioner=hair falling out
this is not only puzzeling as conditioner is suppose to be good for your hair but frustrating for hubby who has to declogg the shower plugg hole
so has anyone else noticed this or am I just wiered??

Not a problem for me.
But maybe you are using the wrong type of conditioner for your hair, or your scalp has some sort of reaction to the conditioner.?
Maybe a trip to the doctors or a new milder type of conditioner may help?
Its most probably the hair is tangled together more without conditioner. With conditioner is all tangle free so the loose ones fall out biggrin
my hair falls out by the hand full every time i wash it, its a wonderi have any left
when i put conditioner on and run my finger thro it to help get rid of the knots my hands are covered in hair
Lots of shampoo's are now made without conditioner in them = Head & Shoulders" being one. They are now on the shelves as seperate items with the word "NEW" across the bottle/container.
Makes you think ??

The ones that are shampoo and conditioner in one, are OK for a one off but not suitable for constant use. They tend to form a film on the strands of hair that can eventually become tacky and the hair feels 'not clean'.
i use a 2 in 1 and a conditioner for my mop, its needs it lol

yeah i think thats probably the case............still its a pain having to empty out the shower all the time........it was a nightmare when i was at uni i lived with three other girls and all of us had long hair.........the shower was constantly blocked as all of us hated emtpying it......
i think though your hair must grow back at the same rate as it falls out though as mine doesnt seem to be getting any thinner........its even worse when i have extensions in my hair then it just falls out continually and everything turns out covered in hair........its a nightmare confused :?
Hair, whats that? confused
You can get a sort of filter that just slips over the plug-hole. Like a flat sieve. It has smaller holes so the hair is caught. Granted it takes a bit longer for the water to go down so you might want to leave it off until you do the hair washing. But it works a treat. They can be obtained from - - - - - ok no advertising,
But a famous supplier of plastic bags and other useful storage has certainly had them in the past. biggrin
PS we need a washing/showering emoticon.
Simple way resolve the problem..........get dreadlocks like me.......only have to wash one a week (at the very most)......any hair that tries to fall out quickly gets tangled in dreads.......nice clean, hair free, plughole :smug:

I think the conditioner is de-tangling too.
My hair falls out in handfulls every time I wash it, yet it still has the size and consistancy of a small hedge. I dread to think what it would look like if it didn't.

Don't know if you have a cat, but I'd hate to be about if it honked up a hairball! sad
Same here Tina. I've got very long hair and it comes out in clumps when I wash it. I'm susprised I'm not bald by now
I don't think it's anything to do with the products you use as I've swapped and changed so many times just to see if that's the problem. My hairdresser says he has to get the plumber in everytime I go for a haircut

My ex was like that. She had fine hair but it was SO curly! (I love curly hair BTW) I swear that there were times that she just didn't need a pillow.... she could just lay on her hair!

Yes! :giggle:
Here is what my hairdresser advised me:
Comb your hair well starting from low (close to ends) and once it is detangled, move higher and higher. This way you avoid hair breakage.
Then use warm water to wet it.
Break the shampoo between the palms of your hands. Do not just pour the shampoo over your hair as it is too potent like that.
Rinse well with warm water (not too hot as it will just encourage sebum production - sebum is what makes hair look dull and lifeless).
Repeat process.
Now use a tiny amount of conditioner, break it between the palms of your hands and apply to ends only. If you apply conditioner close to the roots, then the roots loosen up and more hair falls out. (Anyway the roots do not need conditioning as sebum does the trick each time you comb your hair.)
Rinse very well with warm water and finish off with slightly cooler water.
Wrap in towel and pat dry.
Preferably leave to dry on its own or use low temperature setting in your hairdryer and dry with your hair upside down. using a wide-toothed comb to facilitate the passage of air.
Do not overdry.
That should ensure healthy hair that looks good.
You will always lose some hair as it constantly regenerates but as long as you can see new growth on the hairline, do not worry about hairloss.
Your doctor may refer you to a dietitian for eating advice to help promote strong, healthy hair or you can do some research online, if you are too concerned about it.

Can I just say something............that is utter rubbish :eeek: Conditioner is NOT going to make your hair fall out any quicker. Conditioner affects the scales on the hair strand and will not alter the root rolleyes
Some roots and scalp do need conditioning, not every head of hair it the same

We were fooling around the other day and I took a new one, of something HLB likes to do redface but I can't use it cos she says it looks as tho she's grown a cock :rotflmao:
btw - What's hair conditioner ???
no my diet has never been healthier and even go the gym now so never been as healthy as I am now, I will try the not putting it on my roots though I think that might help, or It maybe the cigs thats doing it,
well they blame everything else on it,
BTW i am not loosing so much that I have bald patches, its just anoying!!

You are supposed to lose 70 - 100 hairs a day anyway so if its less that that, there isn't a problem
