The far right never took the flag . The far left attached it to them . Just like all the other symbols we as Englishmen can be proud of .
Truth is patriotism is fuck all to do with politics , just like everything else its just been hijacked for the purpose by unscrupulous tossers for underhanded reasons .
Its a day for pride , and im gonna sit here feeling it without a thought for party politics or the bullshit it represents .
Peace

Happy St Georges Day!
Get those flags out you had for the World Cup, hang them on your house and for one day let's be proud of being English!!!!!

HEAR, HEAR!
As one of the,' ethnic majority' that dare not speak it's name for fear of being branded a racist in this so called 'pc' society i say,
'BOL-- LOCKS TO THAT - I'M ENGLISH, AND PROUD OF IT.
 cool biggrin

uummmm . . . not so sure about that. for a good while during the late 70's and 80's the only flags you'd see were in the hands of the NF, and latterly the BNP, selling their rags in leeds city centre, or in the hands of the Leeds fans making monkey noises at black players and trashing other clubs stadiums, which made lots of us very uneasy about displaying the flag at all, cos it did have that connotation for a long while. but anyways, this probably ain't the thread to go into that is it, so i'll say nowt about it!
 :lol2:
n x x x ;)
It's Saint George's Day???!!? I didn't know. Well happy saint georges day. I guess I'll go and doing something patriotic and eat a cheese and cucumber sandwich then go watch a cricket match.
In the spirit of St George's Day, I'd like all the ladies to lie back and think of england....
It's my first 's Day as an official British Citizen... What do I do? Does it depend on where my family is from??? :confused2: :confused2:
oh well. Happy St. George's Day Everyone!!!
IMO St george's day suffers from a distinct lack of tradition. St Patrick's day is celebrated more because it's traditional to get anihalated on Guiness whilst wearing one of those crappy foam hats and harping on about you 1/64th Irish ancestory.
What's St George's Day got?.... Hot cross buns. Which are.. very tasty but nothing to get excited about.
