Right this is a lot more condensed than my original attempt at this thread which i managed to delete - grrr!
Anyway we're feeling very stupid right now following a chat with a girl in the chatroom last night, which lead to us giving her our msn.
Anyway, she invited us to join some group thing with her, which i was a bit suspicious about, given that we didn't know her at all and she was soooo keen for us to do so.
Den was not so skeptical and proceded to type in our details (thankfully of our joint email account that we rarely use) including address and password. (this was different from the msn account we were talking to her on.)
Stupid - I know, but we were both MORE than a tad tipsy after an entire day and night celebrating my graduation( which was briliiant by the way!)
Anyway, as we were on a different account, we then noticed the one we had just typed in, being signed into!
And the 'girl' kept asking why we had not accepted her invitation with the address we were on just then. She was very pushy and really wanted us to sign up.
We noticed our other account being signed in and out of and when we quizzed her, guess what? she logged off!!
So my question is, HOW BIG A PAIR OF NUMPTIES DO YOU THINK WE ARE?! (please take into account the drunkeness!)
mad redface  banghead
Anyway, we have since deleted all emails and changed password in that account.....
But think this takes this biscuit for weirdos on here! lol
from the numpties xx
You weren't stupid at all you just trusted someone was as genuine as you both are and she (if it was a she!) wasn't.
I can't understand why people decieve others this way but don't let it dishearten you, there's plenty of sincere folk out there too!
If you can remember the name of the person in the chat room, I suggest you pm a chatroom Op, with any details you can remember.

Er, you asked so ... HUMUNGOUS NUMPTIES ... cool
These people prey on decent peoples willingness to see the good in others. If you haven't done so already - I would change the passwd of the joint email account set up a new account to replace it and no longer use the old account - email addies are a dime a dozen after all.
As a Rule ... genuine sites should never ask you to tell them your account details - they own the site so they don't need your password to access the information if they want to.
It's like banks asking you for your bank card number and pin number! They don't need to know that.
Once bitten, twice shy ... treat this as a learning experience.
8-)
If you had any contacts in the address book of that account email them (from a different account) to warn them that someone has had access to your account. The person who has been inside your account may also try to gleen info from your contacts by pretending to be you.

u gave someone your password, thats VERY stupid, drunk or not, because you cant have dozens of passwords for diferent sites you use if we join any new sites we have an old password to sign in initially because you never know if its genuine site your joining tor some clever bastard gleening info from you then once you know its a genuine site alter the password to a current your still young and learning bless.

Not sure I understood this part of your post. Can't have dozens of passwords ?
I would NOT suggest using the same password on all your accounts - that's very insecure and basically means anyone who discovers one password, knows them all.
It'd be like having all the locks on your house the same so you only need one key to access all areas.
I must admit that I use the same password for unimportant sites - chat forums for example, where there is no personal detail of a financial nature or any address/phone numbers - I even register those against a non-essential email address. Anything financial or where I buy things, I have different passwords for.

of coure same here sorry was only discussing non essential sites like swingers sites, didnt mention banking obviously you would use a much stronger password for such important things like that

maz and den. nothing detrimental to you but, need i say more
Well, I'd just like to say I blame Den entirely for this one! He didn't have any hesitation whatsoever in signing up even when I warned him it was dodgy! To be fair, I was too drunk to protest, but kicking myself now for not telling him to fuck off!
Laird, friad we don't know - blaming den for this one aswell, he was the one chatting in the chat room and he was the one that gave out the msn to a random- i was sleeping at the time in my drunken state, he woke me up when they started messaging...
We still have their msn now.... not that that does any use! lol
well you live n learn and account now deleted!dear oh dear!

one of the daftest things i did was get stopped in town by a very pretty girl selling double glazing, gave her my phone number, when someone at her office called to make an appointment to come measure up, mrs answered the phone, why are you calling us for d/glazing, were ex directory etc, where did you get our number from routine, then she was told i'd given it to one of there sales persons for a quote for double glazing.
she said well she must of been pretty cos he fitted our double glazing last year.

One password fits all? That's a bad move. Each site should have a different password. You said it your self, 'some clever bastard gleaning info'.
It is possible to store a list of password in a password protected file if you can not remember them all. Please, please do not give out any password.
Have you been had? Only time will tell.
