You must be addicted to crap then because you never fail to respond to my posts.
Fortunately, there is lots more where that 'crap' came from, and I'll save it all for you baby... even though you don't make me horny.
flipa :moon:

you my dear are another another planet.......and i'll sleep better now knowing i don't make you horny!
To paraphrase you: Do I make you angry baby?
Do I?
Do I?
Sweet dreams and call me when you wake up and smell the coffee..... :P
 You know I'm actually shocked at the pettiness of this conversation! Why? My young children act better than this!
My boss was due to fly to Boston tomorrow but I guess he'll change his mind tonight. Pity really I was looking forward to being in charge LOL  .
As for Tony Blair not coming back to the country .... erm hello? Weren't flights into Heathrow cancelled, if he had come back somee would criticise him for breaching protocol! He has advisors and staff over here to deal with it all ..... at the moment no one has died, if they had then I imagine he would come home.

Very scary  though I couldn't help but get more than a little peeved at this bit
<snip>
Prime Minister Tony Blair, on holiday in the Caribbean, paid tribute to the the police and the security services.
"I thank them for the great job they are doing in protecting our country. <snip>
Good job someone's doing something to protect us mad

I don't get the point of this snipe - sorry, snip. Do you expect Tony Blair to stand guard at Heathrow Airport with a gun??? FFS.. we have security services whose jobit is to guard us.
I REALLY REALLY hate these jibes which are not only unecessary but groundless.
banghead
Fair comment but if he hadn't got into bed with Bush and the US over Iraq, I don't see we would have been targeted as readily as this. It wasn't meant as a jibe, groundless or otherwise, just my own personal opinion which we are all entitiled to. The trouble with politics is everyone has different views and everyone thinks they are right and it's also the reason I don't get into debates on that subject.
I have my opinions, you have yours and the next person has theirs and we're all equally entitiled to them.

OF COURSE you're entitled to your opinion and thank god for that! However, your comment only said you're pissed off at the PM being away, or did you mean you're pissed off that he issued a statement or what??
As for the other things - these terrorists will ALWAYS find a reason, hower innocuous, and have done so for YEARS. No matter what the decision no-one wins.

I'm pissed at him for getting us into the front of the firing line. Agreed, terrorists always find someone to bomb to bits. I just think we'd have been further down the list of countries to kick the shit out of had he listened more to his people and told Bush to go fight his own battles.
On that note, I'm putting this thread on ignore for the time being

It's part of being a civilized and advanced western nation. Of course, in the developing world it's more civil war, neighbour against neighbour (Sudan, Ethiopa, Zimbabwe etc) and then it's other nations against the next nation (Israel, Lebanon) - doesn't matter who is in power - we vote them in and have to live with the VERY DIFFICULT (sorry for shouting) decisions they make on our behalf. That's called democracy.
I wouldn't enter politics for a the GNP of the UK and it's just awful that they are easy targets for when things are dodgy. It's OK to enjoy the good times (fiscal stability, higher incomes, greater freedom, increased benefits etc) and hate the bad times (increased income tax etc) but let's not beat them over the head at every opportunity - whatever the colour of the party - and lay the blame for the foreign policy handed down and formed over the past 100 years,
We are victims of the past and hostage to the present and forming the future.

I’m sorry Jags, but I have to disagree with you on this.
The commonly held belief that Terrorists are queuing up to find a cause worthy of mass murder just doesn’t wash.
People, whoever they are, don’t give up their lives, homes and loved ones then plan “war to the knife” without feeling they have a very good reason for doing it.
Like it or not, the reason we have a world balancing on the edge of terror, is because we dismissed the voices of angry, sad or disillusioned people when we had the chance.
As for the PM not being able to get back if needed, well that’s a non starter too.
We have an Air force of sorts, perfectly capable of getting him home if needed. Whether he is needed or not is another question.

Your not a bloody history teacher are you?....those clowns told me all sorts of crap when I was a kid :giggle:
My opinion here ( and I am sure I will get a little flamed ) is that the target here was indirectly the USA. All 9 of the intended bombed flights were apparently USA bound. Now, I can say from experience that since 9/11, airport security in the States is ( again in my experience ) practically airtight. So, if you cant get to someone from the inside wheres the next best place ... the outside. Had this plot succeeded it would have not only tragically killed many people ( from many differnet places ), it would have made people wary ( if only for a time ) about flying to the USA which would thereby have hit us where it hurts .... the pocket. I say that because one of the things that has prominantly stuck in my mind is that prior terror attacks on the States have been aimed at two main things ... financial districts and military/goverment. It is not a secret that some of the fanatics of the world ( not pin pointing any group ) have a hate for how materialistic the States are ( or are perceived to be ). So while I hear what some are saying about how this wouldnt have happened if Blair were not "in Bushs pocket" I have to disagree .... they were looking for a way in and as past incidents have shown they dont care who they have to destroy to accomplish their final goal. People will try ( as is sane human nature ) to make sense of this but can you really make sense of something that comes from the minds of madmen?
Going back to my corner now.

firstly can I just say well done to are intelligence services for the work that they have done to foil these attack on us and are allies.........
I'm not going to comment any further on the political issues but as for Tony Blair being on holiday......well why shouldn't he be on holiday..........and why should he return from holiday???
we have a policy in this country not to negociate with terrorists.........him returning from his holiday because an attack has been stopped by are expert forces would imply to these evil people that we are bowing down to them and that are government is listening to their demands.......

I can't see any reason to flame you for that post......it all sounds pretty logical to me. Although I also think it was also aimed at the UK for political reasons too.......it will be interesting to see in the news if they uncover (and report on) simliar plots originating in Austrailia as (I believe - but redface just from watching Australian soaps) they also have a lot of business flights to and from the USA, and they have also been the target (Austrailian tourists at least) of bombs plots i.e. Bali bombings.

That's the problem. It IS Blair. Whether we like it or now. Do we have a choice? NO!
I wonder how many people would vote to maintain this alliance, when it means we have to fight HIS power/oil-hungry wars and consequently be targeted? Let some other country suck up to Bush and put its citizens at risk. I vote we get the hell out of the Middle East and let Bush find another (mug) ally. We have no business being over there. OK so they helped us in WW2. But that was 60 sodding years ago. Can we not seek peace now? Have we not bombed enough innocent people yet?
If you keep poking something with a long stick, don't you expect it to get just a teensy bit angry?

That does not detract form our chaps doing a great job, it's just the wrong job.
