I agree that it seems nasty at times in here but who is that down to? Its down to all of us who post in the forum isn't it? We can change the way it is us the regulars. Lets be honest we're not inundated with new posters because we are all so 'professional' at it and we intimidate others because we are quick to notice any exploitable flaw. Change can only come from within.

Like a few on here, he has a different view. Some I agree with and some I don't. The forum would be boring without these differing views. Just for the record, me and Steve have crossed swords in previous threads. And at one point it became quite heated, but that was with the discussion and not insults. I hope everyone can play happily now and stop building barriers of them and us. There is no them and us, there is only me against the rest of you :twisted: .

As for the advert? I wouldn't have noticed it if it hadn't been pointed out to me. To me it is just another scene in everyday life. I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

for my part, im not particularly proud of my above comments.
contrary to some opinion, i can see my own flaws too and I can accept that from time to time we say innapropriate things.I am afterall 36 not 6.
i agree with both Lost and Phuckers. Its time for us all to do something different... and we also have a choice of whether we post or not.
i would like to move forward rather than remain in the , if anyone has anything to say to me... my Pm box is always open.

I have read all this thread and have watched the ad, it is the first time I have seen it.
While I wasn’t offended I was shocked by the way this was betrayed as normal.
The reason being as an adult I have made up my own mind by living and questioning. I don’t mind people living anyway they wish to live. Live and let live is my motto,
While I raise my children to accept people they come in contact with, I would like to be there to discuss any issues they might have with ANYONE being outside the normal acceptance.
What I found with this advert is the way is was perceived as normal, if this was the case and we all found the same sex relationships better than heterosexual ones none of us would be here discussing this topic today.
There would be no reproduction that is a fact.
So while I am not homophobic I don’t see these type of relationships the same as heterosexual one as without men and woman coming together the human race would be eradicated But then I don’t have a problem with people that live this way either.
The issues I have with the advert are for my reasons above!
I would like my children to make up there own minds when they have had time to question and see things in life themselves and if they chose to be gay then that will be their chose and I will give unconditional love.

I posted those comments to something that happened a few pages ago. Since then, I have continued to read this thread with interest. The content has highlighted certain interesting points and interesting views.
I have noted DeeCee that, after my last post, you have replied to this thread in a manner that has been a pleasure to read. So for people to keep re-posting my comments up is uncalled for. And even though it isn't me posting it, I can only apologise as it seems my words keep coming back to hurt you for something that has already been dealt with.

I think it opens up the debate on whether sexuality is what we are born or what we become. Personally I do not think seeing two men kissing would have any impact on whether a person "turned" gay.
Sexuality for me is formed at birth and it is exposure to a society that does not accept that same sex relationships are "normal" that causes heart ache and hardship for many who grow up refusing to accept who they are.
I look forward to a world where no ones way of life is questioned as being the wrong way and people can flourish and learn to accept what is important in life .. not sure it will happen in my life time :-(
As for the advert ... think it`s rubbish. My tatse is still for salad cream !

In this world of ever increasing population, at a rate the world cannot support I'd say that was a plus. In any case it's hardly likely that several hundred million gay folks out of a world population of 6.5 billion will put the human race's expansion into jeopardy.
Now I'm sure you didn't mean to imply that all relations should result in procreation, but I'm afraid that is indeed what you have implied.

To make up their minds they have to see things, if things are blocked, banned, censored or otherwise hidden (and I'm only talking about things that haven't been proven to be harmful to kids) then how are they able to make up their own minds?

It is the parents who decide what their children see on tv, or that is if the parent actually cares what they see. We can only guess what harm anything kids see on tv actually does to them, most of it is pure speculation, as nobody really knows. :shock:
When my kids were young it was both myself and their Mother who determined what they could watch. I am talking very young here, like under 10. Over that age I would have taken a different approach.
Advertising companies are forever pushing the boundaries both on tv and in magazines. Where does one draw the line? There has to be a line otherwise kids will just then be able to watch and see and for that matter hear, anything that is of an adult nature. That surely is wrong?
Whatever anyone may say the advert has been taken off, it should have been shown after the watershed anyway, in my opinion and not taken off completly.
I am now going back into Minxys thread, so we can all be nice. lol

Who should draw the line?
On what criteria should the line be drawn on?
Who decides the criteria on which the line is drawn on?
Who decides on who decides on who draws the line?
And ever on and on...
The above being far more important than whether to watch a simple advert or not.
As a father of two I am in total agreement in the notion that parents decide what their kids should or shouldn't see.
As a father of two I am also aware that my own outlook on life helps me decide on what they should see.
I decided they shouldn't see extreme violence. I decided they shouldn't see hard core sex and overt soft core sex.
I decided they couldn't see adult horror films.
Had they been above the age of 0 I would have decided that this advert was not harmful to them. I wouldn't have been uncomfortable explaining it to them. I would have decided that the chances of them turning gay over night just because two male actors kissed each other was somewhat remote.
As it happens my kids are now grown up, and thankfully they have grown up to be level-headed and tolerant. Oh yes, they are both heterosexual after having seen many instances of gay low-level intimacy (and probably a lot of hard- core too if I know them as well as I think I do).

Well the ad is fine until he calls his partner sweet cheeks. At that I fell about laughing at teh nickname as he looks the typical flustered husband. biggrin

Then I realised that the kissing men would be ok for middle england until he calls him sweet cheeks - then they know what he is doing with the mayo? Not that I would know if gay men use mayo but it would be the assumtion?
Good ad really and it wont put me off eating it.

Ive used that term for years...... didn't know anyone else used it. There's me thinking I made it up all on me lonesome! confused
