what advice can you lot give me? this sort of thing's got a bit of bad publicity recently, personally i don't know what the fuss is about. how do you lot feel about this?

Forgive me for being so cynical - blame it on the times - but your post struck me as a particularly inept form of cub journalism...
Asking for acceptance, showing awareness, getting chummy - wham, in with the direct question.
SH has welcomed a lot of newbies over the past few months, but only in the last few days have we been asked direct questions like yours. Normally people are more concerned about their own place in the grand scheme, not the community's as a whole.
Naturally, if you are genuine, I apologise for doubting you and say have fun in the forum.

A cautious welcome. You will need to win people's trust before anyone is likely to furnish you with either opinions or advice. Not only are we cautious after the recent media hysteria but some of the most important characters here are also giving up smoking at the moment.
