Can any of you ladies help me with some advice
Im wanting to take something to prevent me having a period on holiday.....I have been to docs and he has given me something im told has bad side effecets so not sure whether to take it
Plus how do I know when to start anything if i dont know when my next period is
Bloody pain in arse being female at times
lol
Any advice Id be grateful

Not a lady here... but doesn't the pill stop you having periods? Isn't that why you have to take a break from it each month? dunno

I've used them...DD has used them...I know at least one other forumite has used them wink

and no notable side effects.
However, none of us are doctors...
You will bleed like buggery when you finish them though confused

maybe she not on the pill cubes?
Have took said tablets a few times without any side effects, reading the leaflet on any medication can make you think twice.
refering back to cubes maybe the pill might be a good choice for the future when i hit 35 i had to start taking the mini pill due to my age n being a smoker, i put off changing for ages as i felt i was being picked on cuz of my age n the fact that i smoked, put it off for another 2 yrs, kept using the excuse but i'm not overweight, turns out was the best thing i did, not had a period since so no need to worry about it at all now

I am 48 years old and my periods are all over the place right now...hence the advice
I havent been on the pill for over 10 years as havent needed to be
Cubes we cant just go and get any old pill you know..lol
Its because I never know when Im due on i didnt know when to start taking anything
Someone has suggested 3 days before we go on holiday and then during
All I can do is dive in and see what happens
Im sure we will have a great holiday as long as I dont have a period

perhaps something to think about for after your holiday .. i use a coil and the effects are ... lighter periods or stop completly esp if your light anyway .. i was quite heavy for a couple of days but even i have stopped completly.. added benefit that they dont tell you ... no PMT cool

i had period pains for 3 months solid at the start but since then its been plain sailing and a benefit is swing on whatever day of the month suits you and not ruled by mother nature any more woooooooooooooo

Think I know which tablets you mean I was prescribed them a few years ago but like you I was irregular so didn't know when to start taking them,
Only thing I can suggest is if you keep a diary of when you have been on to try and work out the average time between when you've been on and then take the tablets when your workings out say you might be due on.
I also tried the contraceptive injection which was great ....periods were getting lighter and lighter and was hoping for them to stop which many women's do, but one of the side effects is you put on weight and so when I got to the point where my weight was getting heavier and periods much lighter I had to come off the bugger

Mind you, if you hold it between your knees it could stop you getting pregnant! :giggle:
