am involved in a local charity to keep kids 11 - 18 off the streets, integrate them into society and stop the social harassment
nope am not asking for your money
but your ideas
we need to raise 60k this year between us all and am basically asking for fundraising ideas that arent too far fetched, are easy to do an fun
am sure amongst the throngs out there, there must be experience in fundraising in one form or another
thank you so much for your help in advance
Earthyxxx
Surprisingly used to make quite a bit doing bag packs at local supermarkets - you contact them and then go in one weekend and do the packing and people donate. Was always a decent amount that we managed to raise.
Cost involved? Price of the buckets or other collection boxes and a few Tshirts with the charity name on. Not much.
A themed 1k walk?
Colour-themed is cheap - or fancy-dress of some-kind?
ty both very good and cheap ideas
cheers!!!
just what i wanted
thank you so much, have done little bits here and there.
probably wont be involving the kids, at least not at this stage. the charity is ran by a local guy who has dj'd in the town for years, worked on the local paper etc, is a really well known guy.
he has said if we come up with the ideas, he can get venues, singers, dj's that kind of thing, so there is no budget to begin with but there is a certain amount of access to facilities etc
i want to help as much as i can as these kids are labelled problem kids but pretty much just have nowhere to go and nothing to do so hang around small local shopping areas just being kids
we want to put on a 'disco bus' which is free and picks the kids up from the areas and takes them to local centres where there are free activities, basically still letting them be kids, but away from local residents etc where they are 'troublesome'
hope that sort of gives a brief description
and thank you again

I assume you have considered applying for a grant.
Generation Together Programme (England) springs to mind although if you look around there are many others.
Good luck.
There is a lot of funding available for all sorts of projects related around young people that you could apply for.
A few to look at
Awards for all
The Secret Millionaire Fund (applications need to be in between May-Dec)
Children in need
Princes trust
If I think of anymore I will let you know.
These help with community based projects
Earth,
It is great to see you are trying to help instead of complaining,
I hope you acheive your aims.
Good luck!

a fundraising party at the local working men's club?
a weekend fair sponsored by the local stores or companies? you could have all sorts of cheap things going on..races, cooking competitions, tug-of-war.. artsy things... all things that require a minimum of money and give the charity a lot of visibility, especially if you make it a block event or involve the local parish..
give the chance to the local businesses to show their colours around and they might be tempted to chip in.
Music gigs for under 18s with no alcohol.
All you need is a a venue, volunteer security/music tech/admin and volunteer bands from the local area.
You will be able to make a profit easily, the amount depending on the door charge and whether you can twist an arm to get the venue cheap.
It works really well round my way, send me a pm if you want to find out more.
Hi
If your your registered as a charity dont forget to gift aid, if your not sure of the regs give me a pm.
If you plan do do an event in the street or sometimes even in a store you may need a permit from your local authority.
Have you thought of events such as
Prison break....people get sponsered from how far they can reach from a set location with no money.
(just thought...you can set a tartget sponsership amount for entry such £500 per person for the prison break and a reward for the person who gets the furthist away)
I have also just thought of things like the Great north run see if you know anybody running and get them to run for you for sponsership....
also for your events look at web pages like just giving
Sponsered sleep out...get people to get sponsered for sleeping rough for a night...a bunch of people sleeping out on the local common.
Static media....such as counter collection boxes, these can raise money for little outlay and not alot of admin again there are some rules/laws with these
Just a couple of ideas

Hi Earthy, I do some charity events for two well known local charities and as someone mentioned earlier you sometimes do need permits and stuff for outdoor events unfortunately, as there is sometimes a lot of red tape involved in doing good deeds confused
I'm not sure whether or not this would be in the AUP's but why not have a charity social or munch, at the one in the North East a while back they did a sponsored auction and auctioned off all kinds of things, those who attended will know what I mean lol, it was great fun and raised some good money!
You could hold a raffle, have an auction, ask people to donate a suggested entry fee, and I'm sure people would attend not only because they are great nights but because it is for a worthwhile cause?
You could do a sponsored tit wank, get people to sponsor you for every one you do and get the blokes to sponsor you for every one they receive.....you'll make a mint
