help needed with inserting

pictures into a thread. could anyone please tell me in the most easy way of putting a picture either one of my own or one off the net into a thread please explain it step by step. i no this has been done before but i still don't no how, and im sure theres lots of people who would like to no (you no who you are biggrin

All down to using tags, there are a variety of them out there and they all similar. See the BBCode help from the Help pages for more. Basically you need your pic on the net, then you put its location between 2 img tags. The site then will show the image, i.e.
- This word tells the board I am about to send a URL to a picture
- This one because of the / shows I have reached the end of the URL
The tags will not be printed in my text, they will be hidden and the picture at the URL displayed instead:
http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/images/logo-border.gif
The code above would show the SH logo...
Ok so that the basics of how the code works on the site, so how do you get the URL of a picture?? Luckily that fairly easy as well. However linking images from other sites is called abndwidth stealing, and most sites don't like it, so be aware of the sites policy before you link.
To get an images URL in firefox just right click on the image from the other site and select 'Copy image location'. Then paste that between the image tags and you are done.
To get the image URL in IE right click on the image and chose properties, then highlight the address (in the middle of the properties page) and press CTRL+C to copy it.
To get your own pics on the net just nip over to They will host your pics (within guidlines) and even give you a quick copy link with the IMG tags round it ready to use....

Why couldnt this have been posted yesterday, I spent half the afternoon having my own inserting dramas. sad

After ages of trying I finally managed to get it up, a pleasing result after an hour ot trial and error. ;)

Like I just said in a pm, I would scare all the SH wildlife, the place would be in chaos and it would take weeks to clean up.
The horses would bolt, cats n dogs would be jumping out of windows, the elephants would stampeed, the monkeys would be crapping from the chandeliers, and as for the sheep, well we wont even go there :twisted:
