Help we confuse easily

Firstly this isn't a winge but more so an observation and please bear with us it may get complex confused

For our sins we are both blonde, but of late we have been thrown by the flag unread posts thingy_me_jig_wotsit :? you know the the markers at the side of each thread to say what has been read and what hasn't.
Well as you can tell we spend a fair bit of time using the same IP addy and the same laptop to access SH and simply log out of one account and into the other as and when one of us wants to post. But last week we noticed that threads Kate had read on her account now show up as read when I log in with my account even though I havn't read them.
Now it never used to be like that at the start so has the system changed or am I just spending far too much time in manchester that the site now thinks Kates IP addy is my main one for my account or is it that we now have accounts as a couple dunno

Either way neither of us now has a fookin clue what we have read and what we haven't :crazy: remember we are both blonde redface

If you're using the same provider ( as in Netscape/ IE ) then I would assume you have the same IP address. dunno

there again, I'm blond too under all this red :giggle:

That doesn't happen for myself and Sarah, even when we are both logged on to the same connection at the same time. Ocassionally when we've logged on it has shown no red flags as if everything has been read, but I put that down to an odd gliche with SH, rather than a shared connection. so can't really help, I'm afraid.

We only have the same IP as we are at the same flat (luxury apartment) as they are differant for every internet connection........but when I first started coming up here things read in kates account still showed as unread when I logged in with mine a shortwhile after........but now they don't and its making our poor ickle heads hurt trying to delve through what we have read or havn't as the case may be redface

We can cope but in all honesty just wondered if others who share an IP addy have the same thing biggrin

Apparently the number of bathrooms makes it a luxury appartment so i'm told........either that or just the sales persons banter dunno

Its a flat if you ask me...........a plain and simple flat lol

My red flags were NOT there this morning :cry: and it showed I logged on and off at the same time!! (very clever!)
So I put it down to a glitch in the system.............
Working fine now though lol

I think I've found a solution to our problem as its only us thats affected biggrin

Deactivate PoshKates account and the promlem will be sorted lol

Errrr.... maybe I should keep this blabbering to myself but it makes sense to me! lol

Check your cookie settings - maybe you can reset/change them so when you log on, the site doesn't go to your cookie folder and say "oooo you've visited here already" (yes in a camp voice!
An aside...if I am on this site (using IE) and I close the it by mistake, when I go back into SH it says I have read all the posts! :shock:

Itâ€™s rare that you would have the same external ip address for a long time, as they are re-leased every so often. But have you tried clearing your temporary internet files.

Right I've cleared cookies even blocked em at one point but couldn't log in I know the sql thingy's went tits up but I could log in on IE not firefox, and it sort of didn't work confused

Kate's account had been off line for an hour or so, so she should have a healthy list of unread posts at the top of the cafe..........strangely she hadn't the top one was unread then the next one down was then a few more were unread then some that were then........ahh you get the idea lol

I also know that the ones that were marked as read DID HAVE REPLIES IN THEM that hadn't been read by her account so I'm non the chuffing wiser :?

yippee...........sods law strikes again........as if by magic the problem is solved.......thank god for that........i was getting really confused as to what i'd read and what i hadn't....... this little brain couldnt cope in this heat.......
