help with pic size!

So, even by taking a pic from my webcam instead of digital, the file size is still over 300kb, the maximum size to email thru the sight is only 50kb, how on earth do i shrink it down that much and still have it looking like a pic and not a sinlge pixel confused

u can opne it out and save it as a different file type......
