I would just like to confirm that contrary to how it may appear, no animals were harmed during the making of this thread!

They may not have been harmed, but after a hell of a battle last night I know of one Aardvark thats gonna shit itself if it ever finds itself with its nose in a corner again

SuperDave yes it's sad but it's as good a reason to hijack this thread as the rest
and then I said to the conductor "I could fly for that!"

lol
dave the trick is to carve the aardvark before placing it in the blender
add a few garlic cloves a little olive oil and season
follow these simple rules and you should have no problems

poor warwick! confused as ever! rolleyes
warwick? i think you'll find an aardvark has a tough armour plated shell on it's back, so short of using a pneumatic drill, you're gonna have problems carving the damn thing.
possibly you were thinking of muscles, an altogether different shelled creature that goes rather better with garlic and a splash of white wine? dunno
neil x x x ;)
no no no Nil you turn the little blighters over to get to the soft underbelly. they cant escape then either cos their legs are just going round and round like a windmill

I'm bumping this, as we've had quite a few people mentioning about hijacking threads today and I'd be interested to get some opinions of those newer members as well as the regulars to how you view hijackings
When I first came here, the hijacking used to drive me bananas, and I did see it as an 'in group out group clique' thing - which I'm sure many new members do too.
That siad, I then began to see it as an acceptance thing - especially when the thread starter doesnt get on their high horse and start moaning about thier thread being hijacked lol
However, I do think there is a time and a thread for hijacking, and the best example of this I can give is the sbf thread recently. Bloody fascinating thread with some really good insightful comments on it, but like most other threads it was hijacked and that effectively killed the discussion.
I think perhaps the 'discussion' looked like it was done and dusted because it was one-sided. But I often wonder how further we may have been enlightened if it had been allowed to run its course (if it hadnt already) dunno
I do think though that to many, and especially to newer members/ folk who dont use the Cafe that much, that hijacking generally appearsvery much to look like a 'right, we'vehad enough of this one now' than it does 'acceptance'.
The worst kind of hijack is the kind that starts with a toadying crawly compliment then becomes a flirt/foreplay fest - between two people culminating in ever more personal and cryptic nonsensical "in jokes" and Carry On type innuendo until it implodes with everyone elses boredom .

I'm forced to agree - only cos you're dead right!!
lol
Blimey im printing and framing that one Misstress J !!
wink
In all honesty as a prolific hijacker I try and only do the ones that are pointless or that are unproductive such as the many site speed ones we have seen of late confused However if I hijack others feel free to give me some smackbottom :smackbottom: :lol2:

HLB
worship :worship: :worship:
having just read this cover to cover my sides are acheing, and there are real tears running down my face,
thatnk you so much for cheering me up.
as to the point of it all, I have been both the instigator, participant, and victim of hijacks, and mosly I think they are a good laugh.
However, as has been stated I think it is polite to at least wait to see if the about to be hijacked thread has anything to contribute to the forum, and if it is an enquiry to at least let the poster get a few answers to his / her questions but as dammie said, it used to be a sign of acceptance to get a thread hijaked and I think the tone of said hijack is also important, especially with the newer members.
If the hijack is lighthearted and inclusive, then i think meost folk would join in with the banter, the danger is that some hijacks can seem dismissive and flippant, and it is possible to make the poster feel that they are being catigated, ignored and / or ridiculed.
imho
has anyone seen my lool by the way?
