Now, I know I'm very guilty of hijacking, and it could rightly be said that its because somebody doesnt have anything of interest to say, but could the following be a reason why there is so much hijacking?
Quote by kbuk
tbh - It's this kind of thing, or even the threat of it, which stopped me posting on the forum about a year ago. I accept that due to my lack of posting recently - my comments, and general opinion may be of no relevance, However - surely the fact that I also feel like it's constantly on "egg shells" in here, and the slightest wrong word, or action could get you a ban, So I choose to no longer post - And thats just me - I'm sure there are a hell of a lot more!

Sorry to have taken your quote kbuk, it was the most recent one i saw
Maybe people have seen comments by members (including Mods, who, when all is said and done, are still members) and are, like kbuk, walking on eggshells, afraid to upset the applecart, in fear of getting chastised for having an opinion, or getting banned for saying the wrong thing?
Everybody has an opinion, but theres a certain core that have the conviction to say what they feel, and I freely admit, there has been times I'd like to have said something, but hadnt, because I wish to remain a member here

Ditto here.....
There is so much more I want to say ...... sad

I say what I think ........ some people agree and some people dont ....... but as long as I dont break the rules I have every right to say it!
I dont walk on egg shells ..... if I felt like I had to, then I simply wouldnt come in here again.
As I have already said maybe I just aint as paranoid as I should be !!! dunno

p.s. I also think that you have to read between the lines (difficult for men but us girls are used to it) Some people seem to get joy from starting an arguement or having a go!!

Possibly, but I think there's more hijacking going on elsewhere by members who don't see to be threatened at all by the environment. I think some people just seem to post that way dunno
I think sometimes people get too emotionally involved and can't separate debate and discussion from argument and insult.
I've always been quite outspoken and a few people have told me when I met them that they found me a bit scary on the forums
I've always spoke my mind, but I've adhered to the AUP and
I've never had a thread locked
I've never had a post deleted
I've never been banned
I've never received a warning
And that's not just on here it's on all sites I post on.
Although Jags did once threaten to deactivate me, because I posted this :giggle:
bolt
Oh btw chav, be very careful. Last time we discussed hijacking here an armadillo was seriously injured

Oh, i do understand that, there are some who only pop up when there is a bunfight, there are some who only pop up on other sites to stir up a bunfight, but im talking about the general membership, not a couple of small minded types
there are some who do stand their ground, for which i am grateful, as without them (bearing in mind others, like myself dont speak up) we wouldnt get to discuss the things we do

Sorry, but i am reminded as to how last christmas's panto, arranged by the local Paranoid Schizophrenics Society, descended into chaos when one of the audience shouted, "hes behind you!"

  same here, deflated and sick of false people who think only of themselves and who aren't really interested in what you have to say.
I'm with Blonde, (well not literally), I say what I think, I'm honest in my postings but I'm starting to think.. maybe I'm too honest and too caring for my own good. sad

Can you clarify the question Essex?
I'm not sure how 'not feeling able to say what you think' then becomes an 'excuse' for hijacking threads dunno , nor do I think it's ever really going to be a reasonable excuse for hijacking any threads
I can however see how this could be a discussion on hijacking..... or it could be a discussion on 'not feeling able to post what I think'
or can i just not see what you're asking? lol
help :dunno:

Like many others I can hold my hand up to hijacking threads. We've all done it at some stage and yes, it can get frustrating when the origin of the thread is lost because of it.
I don't think I've had a post deleted except by me. I've had threads locked while I've seen others very similar left to run but what's the point in saying anything dunno
I've never said anything of a personal nature in attack on anyone, that's not in my nature.
I do see some threads go haywire where something has been said but taken the wrong way. That's the trouble with forums/texts/pms/messaging....you can't always judge the context in which something is said.

Human nature.
I don't think eggshells are actually required - or in fact particularly helpful.
I do though believe tact, diplomacy, respect and honesty are.
In some cases ( sometimes most) it's as much about how something is said as what is said.

Just because you don't have paranoia, it doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

my apologies, i wasnt saying that not being able to say whats on your mind is justification for hijacking, but im asking, because of peoples fears of the consequences, do they then choose to hijack, as it means they can contribute to the forums (not necessarily the topic)?
and for the record, there are two main reasons i have hijacked so much, one is the eggshells syndrome, the other is because im a big mouthed smart arse

its a shame some of you are feeling the fun and positive thing this site was buit to bring to the swinging community has gone tits up.
i hope i have never offended anyone, if i have it wasnt my intention.
i have i hope said what i think and feel, without breaking the sites aup.
for the years ive been here i dont have a massive high post count, id like to say thats due to quality not quantity, but its not often the case lol.
maybe im like an aging family member who keeps harping back in my mind to past times on this site.
i knew when the site was taken over by a company that things would change, id hoped the members would try and hold it together to remain a resemblence of what the site was.
i guess sometimes subject will raise members backs.
this could be a time when more consultation would be usefull, after all a few past heated debates and dummy spitting would never have been required had we been consulted on the ... winks, stealth cams.
sometimes its best to hit shut down on the pc and walk away from things if its all getting to sore.

Yep - me too!
Seems to be a few people stalking the site and sniping at those they have decided to have a grudge against. Beats me sometimes and I too have to bite my tongue and not respond cos I'd probably have to ban myself.
Not at all easy at the moment with some people.

I know I know.. I realised afterwards that I'd slightly hijacked... and as for feeling like that.. don't we all?
Essex has brought to light a very good topic. So what is a hijack? Can a little bit of fun in between posts be allowed?
It comes to something when a slight little joke within a thread is construed as being a hijack?
It's little wonder people don't bother posting - the fun is disappearing.. again.

ah, I get you
is hijacking contributing? dunno
and sometimes (particularly in serious discussion threads or other more lighthearted ones that are 'designed' really to encourage or enable people to post without treading on eggshells), doesnt hijacking mean the thread is effectively reduced to 2 or 3 people posting one-line bollox for the sake of it to the point where the thread question/ topic is lost and therefore rendered useless (other than for those doing the hijack)?
I do think there's a time and place for all posts, even bantery hijack ones , but not at the expense of threads/ discussion/ other people then not feeling able to post at all ( because the point of the thread has gone) and certainly not because its a means of still posting but effectively doing a cover-up job on other issues that you want to speak up on but darent wink

I think so too! That's EXACTLY how I feel at the moment and it's been noticed by others too. Seems that one corner of the site is out to poke their tongues out at anyone, or is it just me they are after??? Paranoia? Don't believe it, too much evidence to back it up.
Perhaps there is too much agreement in this thread??? lol

I don't think i hi-jack - i generally reply but sometimes with all the "stop hi-jacking" that you see about, i don't reply and often hope that the person did not take offence because of this....
Mostly, i will post when i feel the need or want to; but there are times i sit on my hands and to quote Shireen "bite my flucking tongue" this is not due to a ban threat etc.... its due to "do i really want to get in to this?" and half the time i just think "No, back away from the comp" lol

To close my comments on hijacking (I don't really understand the do's and don'ts of it all to be honest).. last Sunday I posted a thread which ended up being hijacked to the hilt... and you know what? I was told by numerous people that they hadn't laughed so much in ages and were actually having fun.
And on that note I'll leave it..

I try to live by what I post sometimes in chat.
"
"All the members of this site deserve to be treated with manners and respect whatever shape, size, age, colour, gender someone might be!!
We are mostly all here to have fun and have a laugh and a joke."

Sometimes it is hard to adhere to that tho cos of being an ops and Jags will know exactly where I'm coming from here.
Because as needs must we do have occasion to ban people but we don't hold grudges and whatever was said one night is forgotten very quickly.
Al-tho that can't be said for some members who hold grudges against admin/ops/mods for ages.
It does happen and I suppose it is human nature, but we try to get on with what we volunteered to do in the first place.
We all make mistakes in life, some more serious than others but we learn to live with them but the people that snipe at others thrive on that I think.
As someone once said Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.
