Just read what I wrote and take it on at face value. I would not expect Swinging Heaven Moderators and fanatics to be anything other than 100% supportive of everything that SH stands for and every decision that is made. Point is, I don't disagree with what SH does, in fact as a commercial enterprise I very much admire the way it gets the mods to slavishly police the Site and the stats and non verification policy enable the perception to be given that there are getting on for 1,000,000 actively Swinging Members on this Site. That is good commercially if a little misleading in reality.
I have not got a problem with SH because it serves a purpose for us of being an adult Site. We have met Swingers from this Site but we also know that as a percentage there are a large number of 'fantasists' and 'dreamers.' The non swingers would be outed as non players on other sites by verification because they are run by swingers for swingers and regularly sweep dead memberships and inactive players to keep the listings hot. SH is a commercially operated site and the motives are quite different.
Nothing wrong with that - just different

I have saw the so called great verification system be abused on other sites and it is very easy to do.
Most of these sites are free to join so I will give you an example of how it is done.
First of all along comes Jimmy Bloggswiebigdick or whatever his name is, then he says to himself "Oh I could have so much fun here winding these sad swingers up"
So off he trots to his pc and opens about 10 different accounts in all sort of varying permutations.
Then he sets about verifying him self using these accounts over a few weeks until he has the swingers champing at the bit dying to meet him.
Then they take the bait and because no bad feedback is allowed they can't tell everyone what he has done or who he really is.
And after he gets fed up with those 10 accounts he opens another 10 and so on.
Have saw it happen on many occasions so there you go.
Yep you definitely have my vote for a verification process dohhhhhhh!!!!!!!! rolleyes

Thanks for that perfect justification for not having a verification system. I've always thought that the maturety of this site in allowing people to make their own judgements is its strength not its weakness.
There is another factor in that I'm not interested in proving to people who are 'grazing' whether I'm genuine or not. I will swing with people whom I get to know and trust and then I do not expect them to share the vital statistics of the experience with anyone else.
So I really don't want a verification system.
It means I need to get to know people on here before I swing - that is, quite frankly, a long and pleasant process.
Long Live SH!!!!
.
I would agree here if SH was still a free site, but since it is not I would very much doubt many people would "buy" into multiple profiles just to make theirs look good. Not unless they are loaded. Pay sites would be better than free sites for the verification system in my opinion.
Do I think we should have one? I don't give a monkeys. If we had one I doubt we would use it as it can cause one helluva lot of problems that I have seen on other sites.

I have to reiterate what I said previously.
What gives anyone the right to 'out' anyone? You want a system that 'outs' people who you 'believe' to be 'non swingers'. I dont think I missed your point.

Really not sure what yer saying here my friend. I don't buy into here just to make my profile look good. I buy into here to interact with people and if that leads to swinging opportunities then good. That's the pace I like to take it.

When Woo started, he was saying that free sites can be abused by people taking out multiple profiles and verifying themselves and saying how good they are.
You then said it was a perfect justification. I was just saying how I do not believe it would work in a pay site as people would not pay multiple profiles unlike making lots of profiles on a free site.
I was just responding to the first bit of your post and woohoos'. I agreed with the rest so didn't respond to it biggrin

If you check the LMU forum you'll see many people listed going to meets etc. You'll also see lots of thankyous by those who went. To me that's verification.
Its just a characteristic of this site that its doesn't have a formal verification system. But people will seek out verification by other means anyway.
So I don't see why there is such a passionate debate either for or against verification. It exists here in its own way.

No, that's just people saying thanks to organisers - doesn't mean they swing or don't swing. Or that they will definitely turn up to privately arranged meets.
Sorry but cat amongst the pigeons time here.
Why do people go on a swingers site, if they have no intention of swinging? dunno
Never quite understood that one. Go on slate me if you want. lol

Because they are interested in the lifestyle and want to learn more?
Because they did once participate, but have become jaded by ... certain aspects?
Because there are no rules saying that you HAVE to be a swinger to be a member?
Because they enjoy adult themed conversations and debates?
Because they enjoy the communal atmosphere?
As a non-participator, all the above are true for me.

Well I have just had a brain haemorrhage last month so I can no longer swing in the near future. Until I recover then should I remove myself from Swinging Heaven?
Not having a go but just explaining that not everything is black and white.
Dave_Notts
We joined the site as born again Christians thinking it was a Christian big band swing type thing. Boy how we were wrong and how we are going to burn in hell for the stuff we do!
lol

I was being a nosy tyke basically - had a date with a guy who turned out to be swinger. He told me about this site and others so I joined. I was genuinely interested, - and fully intended to meet people, but I was shy and lurked for ages.
Real life interrupted shortly afterwards and I met someone whom I was with a number of years >>snipped out all boring details<< In the meantime, got to know people here and made friends, became single again, so I stayed. One day I might meet people, I don't know :dunno:
Out of all the sites I belong to, I love this one - its adult - saucy - fun - I can be me - I enjoy meeting people at socials/munches. I have no agenda being here - just take and give what I choose to.
PS Dave - I just saw your post in preview! I hope you regain full health soon, wish you all the best kiss
All the best Dave xxx

Getcha - sorry - it was a long time ago (seems) I read Woo's original.. take yer point.

I did say not to slate me peeps. I was only asking a question fgs. lol
I just thought...wrongly obviously, that to join a swingers site, people would have actualy wanted to swing. Thats maybe why we have trouble finding people to actualy swing with. dunno
So have I just read Dave's post - jeez - hope you get through it safe and sound mate.

ok,
here we are with another thread on verification,
i understand why some people dont want this, and i understand why some people want it?
why doesnt the site owners want it? especially as they have it on their other sites?
is it to make it a unique point and this site different to the others? does non verification assist to get more new members? it seems to be new members who are the ones who raise this most often as a desired aspect of a swinging site.
i dont actually like the verification system on some sites as i dont like to display who i have and havent met. its private, but then i could chose not to join the verification band.
one thing i do like about it is i know of some very unsafe sex players, and when i see a guy/couple saying they have met this person i avoid them like the plague lol.
ok we hear the normal things.... you need to get known to get meets, attend munches, socials use the forums... good advice BUT...
what if you dont want to use the forums or go to socials, you may not have the cash to attend socials , or it may not be your thing?
and no im not saying non swingers cant go to socials BUT... we haer that so many who use the forums and go to socials dont actually swing they use these avenues cuse they just like the social side and dont swing.
so... where am i going with this??
i dunno? lol but i guess a verification system would not prove someone will turn up as ive met people who have appeared great but then muck someone else around and visa versa.
i know one sites verification is only as much as saying you are male , female etc and the pic is true to being you right now, not 10 years ago.
linked in with active swingers opposed to those who dont , are not right now? well i use the ads not the profiles if im searching for meets.
and yes i think the ads should get a big clear out.
will this site die regarding active swingers membership if they dont get in line with other sites?
it may well be around for the non swingers who like to chat and debate and meet socially (yes i know some of those are active swingers) but will that bring in the revenue the owners require to keep it running?
just a few musings

I know this has been discussed many times before, and to me it always seems the ones that shout the loudest are the ones who have no intention of swinging. That is not digging at anyone, just my opinion.
We DO swing and want to meet swingers, and all I was saying was that I would have thought a swingers site for swingers, would have actually meant, people do want to swing.
We have had it many times. We chat to people to get to know them, and then find out they are only here to chat. :dunno:
I do not see anything wrong at all in thinking a swingers site would have been for people that want to swing. Sounds rather logical to me. cool

I have to reiterate what I said previously.
What gives anyone the right to 'out' anyone? You want a system that 'outs' people who you 'believe' to be 'non swingers'. I dont think I missed your point.

Look, we may have forthright and direct views but we are not saying that we or anyone has the right to 'out' anyone. We are saying that other sites verify active players within the site and if you want active and current swingers then that is the way to go.
We like SH but it is only an 'adult' site for us - yes we have met people from here and will probably continue to do so but it is far from a dedicated swingers site. If SH don't want to do verification on this site, then it is fine by us - we do not have a problem with it. We will continue to pop in and out and not take things too seriously though we accept that some prolific posters who average 3-4 postings per day every single day of their life may just have fanatical views (and quite rightly) about a Site that they clearly love. But I wish that they would read what is said in some posts, take it at face value and NOT immediately become all defensive.
Think about it - we wouldn't be here if we didn't like it !!

I can see where you're coming from here but you have to remember too that people's circumstances change from time to time and they may go through a phase of not meeting. Whatever their reasons for this, they should still be welcome. They're still involved in the lifestyle if not active at that point in time.
However, sounds to me like the people you have been in contact with should have made their intentions ( or not as the case may be ) clear from the start
