I was reminded of this episode in my life by the "It's Rubbish" thread. Sorry if its been done before but.....
What's the worst job you've ever done?
I once took part in a refuse audit. This entailed collecting peoples rubbish bags before the binmen got them and taking them to a cold damp shed. We then opened the bags and sorted and weighed the waste. Mmmm looked good, smelt good. It was a wonderful fortnight.
When I was looking after my mum I couldn't work much so I had to take a small cleaning job in a health club.
The worst bit was having to fish out all the pubic hair from the drains in the showers by hand .. extra strong marigolds for that one.

I have a little domestic job on the side at the mo cleaning the offices at my Sis' works. The warehouse loos are normally done by the guys ( ha! rolleyes ) but I do them anyway. After the first time I saw them, that part of the job is now known as 'Trainspotting' :scared:
You have to remember the scene in the pub toilet to see where that comes from and it is NO exaggeration
I was a boom operator (fluffy microphone on a pole) for a Home Office DVD that was to be used as an aid to train new forensic scientists.
Queue visits to various unsavoury places like spending 2 days with a pathologist in the mortuary and watching him work.
Filming techniques that SOCOs use to collect evidence after a murder. That was particularly harrowing as the poor gentleman in question had laid in his bathroom undiscovered for 2 weeks in the heat of summer.
Although the job was very interesting at times it also had to be the worst for the "I'm going to faint, be sick, have nightmares etc!" factor.
The first job I had when I left school was in a photography printing business. We used to develop and print all sorts of stuff from holiday snaps to family parties but ocassionally we did some work for freelance photographers.
One incident I remember was a case of suspected human combustion and seeing the poor lady's remains wasn't a nice sight for a 16 year old sad
Worst i've ever had was a 3 day contract doing a warehouse clean at the old British Steel works in Teesside.
We had to strip everything down and clean it up properly and everywhere was caked an inch thick in this "stuff" they called the black fat.
It was minging big style....took me about a week to get rid of the smell and get it all off me!
All for bloody minimum wage too, the things you do when you're young eh?
Did some casual work cleaning Fort Dunlop (the tyre place) in Birmingham after it caught fire...
Cripes that job was mingin'...
I cant say ive ever had a horrible job. Ive always enjoyed everyone that ive had :smug:
louise xx
Once had a job round the large fishing lakes outside of bristol I had to pump out all the Caravan style elso blue toilets with a large pump plus clean the things out, ewww. Pump would always get blocked though as the cheap ass cleaning firm didnt supply proper Elson blue only a cheper alternative that would turn before they due date to empty. This ment you couldent see what was in it and the pump got blocked by all kinds of things like knickers toilet rolls. Luckily I didnt have to touch it when it blocked it went to a garage. The other part of the job was cleaning the lodge and the huts where they gut the fish sad stinks that does plus they would leave all the unwanted bits there. Some huts and shelters would get left open sheep would bget in and shit all over the floor then walk on it compacting it. Once in the summer I had to chip off a 2 inch think carpet of sheep shit from the hut floor.
Getting to stink of shit and fish all in one day ... nice :(
I'm in the fortunate position to have only had one job since i left school.
Its still the worst job i've done tho lol
A few years back did a contract paint job for one of the companies that supply food for the airlines (not saying where or who) had to take up the lino on the floor of one of the gents loos.
Talk about minging was nealry sick a few times, the stench was unbelievable. We poured some bleach down the overflow hole in the sink and a load of white crawlies appeared.
These guys would then go and prepare the food   it had HSE job written all over it.
Yesturday had the job most plumbers hate, a toilet that is very slow to flush, only ever one thing for that and its lift the drain cover. Had to lift 2 in the end, i wont say any more.

Oh I dont know how you stick the same job, I change mine about every 2 years, I spend the first year liking it then a year finding something else, I just cant seem to settle but at the moment its the best paid job ive ever had so im liking for a bit longer
worst job..........I dont think I disliked any that much that I could say was the worst
One summer I worked in a battery egg farm. I regularly found birds that had been trampled to death and flattend by the other birds in their cages.
Clearing the the deep litter was hellish, Mice would run up your trouser legs.
The first job i ever had was quite good actually, it was only partime and it was cash in hand work. I was the curator of a local museum. It was an easy job and the pay was quite good. Only probabl;y was the cieling was rotting away and dead birds kept falling down left right and centre.....was a bit digusting!
My second job saw me working for a guy i found to be a conman when the police were surrounding his office, they suggested i keep his money and scarper so that was a bonus!

Oooo plumbing jobs luverlee confused
I once worked in a house where the poor old lady was incontinant and her husband had lost his sense of smell in a car crash (honest). The place stunk, the carpet was sticky under foot. We could only spend about 5 minutes in the house before we had to make our excuses and go outside to breath, then back in for 5 minutes more work.
This house only rated about 7 out of 10 on the horrible rating.
I once worked in a psychiatric hospital and during a period of porter shortage did a few days overtime shifting bodies in the mortuary. I didn’t think it was that bad actually, but other people seemed to think it was. dunno

That's the part of my job I don't like sad It's not so much moving the bodies, I still treat them with respect and as much dignity as I can but since we had our new mortuary installed, I hate the thought of putting someone who was still breathing a few hours ago into a freezer :(
I'm going to see my Nan today and I know the thing that will get to me is she will be frozen solid!
Hey ho.

Can understand your view there. I get fed up of it sometimes but when i think i want a change i think well in manufacturing my place is high paid compared to others and i get in that comfort zone to do anything else.
