As its cartoon "violence" it doesnt stay imprinted in the memory...
Violence portrayed in films stays in the mind a hell of a lot longer.......Thats why they have ratings of 18 for horror movies and some are 15 certs...

My son has watched The Fast and The Furious...
It doesnt have the deep rooted sinister meaning of films like Christine.
Its not so much the violence as kids can get that in the playground but its the more sinister aspect of certain films that stays with some people who watch them and as young minds are more impressionable I find it quite shocking that a child as young as 9 has watched it.
for some one is scared of wind and noises outside and thinks edward scissorhands is a really scary horror film (prob the first and last i watched many years ago) i steer well clear from anything that remotely has a horror theme took me 1 bottle of vodka and a house full of people with all the lights on and doors locked to watch scary movie cos it had scary in the name , now im not really a scaredy cat but horror fims it just aint right
going now to hide behind the couch again
"IT"......very scarey Stephen King TV movie...... shame about the very daft ending(when we finally see what "IT" looks like).
hey mazandden,
yeah hostel is ok...some very beautiful people, and takes a while to get going....pretty good end though... in terms of other stuff.....bought my housemate the freddie series for xmas, and they are still pretty comical...personnaly things that are slightly believable are worse...not scarey, just wierd...that one where the people get forgotten when diving was pretty freaky stuff...hello mr shark....!!??!! lol
hey minxy, if you ever need someone to watch one with let me know,,,, i can bring the popcorn, and the pillow to hide behind biggrin

I wouldn't be happy at that either.

I can remember my parents letting me watch the likes of hammer house of horrors and jaws when i was a kid. i dont think i could say weather it has had any sort of impact on my life but at the time after watching jaws having really bad nightmares about sharks but also having a facination with them as well
When i was a bit younger i used to dive alot and i was starting to get into competition. During that time i started to watch the film deep blue sea alot as i really liked it. I never found it that scary but whenever i was diving into that pitch black water in that pool all i could think of was those sharks in that film. I know its stupid but that made me quit....thats the only horror film that affected me.

The current trend? Sorry but the trend has always been erotic. Nothing sexier apparently than being in your negligee at midnight as the full moon goes behind the clouds and the casement windows are pushed open by a tall, dark powerful man who then climbs on top of you and bites you so hard on your neck that he draws blood...According to Lucy Westenra anyway dunno

By current I mean cinematic.
The original folktales are not at all erotic, they're about being scared for your very soul in the dark of the night and not being able to trust anyone - even your own family. It was only Westerners (not Westenras lol) who added the eroticism. Bram Stoker has a lot to answer for...
I used to be scared witless by Funhouse but when I saw it on video I realised it was my girlfriend at the time digging her nails into my arm when the dog jumps out of nowhere that left me trembling and jittery. (I'm not too fond of dogs, either) The film was shit.
One of the most extreme horror (and I truly mean extreme) I have ever watched is August Underground. You need a VERY strong stomach to watch that boink The vast majority of so-called "horror" pail into a comedy sketch show in comparison.
