Cos of the way yer noggin works. I find the theories of Human memory processing duller than dull but a guy called Baddely wrote a reasonably accessible book.
Dont take em as gospel though, these quasi scientists seem unable to come up with an allegory that doesnt rely heavily on electronic computer modelling.
Different memories are stored in different parts of the brain hence why people for what ever reason be it injury or illness can sometimes loose their short term memory but keep there long held memories and vice versa.
In my case its the self medication :shock:
