you arrange a certain time to meet someone, wether it be for chat, web cam fun or drink etc, how long do you give them before you call it a no show?
I'm a punctual person and believe in being early, not graced with much patience i believe when i state a time people should be there on time or better early.
we arranged to chat with someone the other day and waited half an hour for them(reasonable i think) we later learned they turned up hour and half later!
how long do you wait?

I think you have been more than reasonable waiting half an hour. If you arrange a meet I would expect both parties to be punctual, or a phone call to let the other party know that they will be late.
At the end of the day it is good manners.

think a half hour is long enough !! a bit of a punctual person myself and nothing winds me up more then when people are of our freinds (and family come to think of it!) are bloody awful timekeepers but tend not to make to big a deal of it with them.

Nice sillyhwoar: by the way
As someone who is almost permanently late for social gatherings my friends and family all tell me the meeting time at least 30 mins ahead to make sure I'm there on time.
I did make an extra special effort for the bi-fem meet at SteveGNW's place because it was the first time meeting people off this website and I wanted to make a good impression. whoops redface let my little secret out there! lol
In general if I am late I do think it's manners to phone and let the people know how late I'm going to be. You can't be expected to wait all night.
I personally dont accept lateness...if someone cant be bothered to make the effort, then i cant either.
Its simple, they wanna be their at 6pm, they get their at 5:55pm...
Suppose some people's time keeping, shows you how they run their life..
Then, again...i am in the armed forces..
I tend to agree that half an hour is long enough to wait, but that during that half an hour, the 'latee' should at least make a quick phone call to let you know they are on their way. It's just good manners.
Punctuality rules! - 5 minutes is too late for us.
Thats how I met Tracy-Jayne, 'cos someone else was late so she went off with me!
You wait until the little blue tablet has worn off... and you can get up from the table without taking someone’s eye out :lol2:

Ive never been in the armed forces, but agree entirely. If Im not worth being on time for or at least a phone call, then im sure i dont want to meet him!!
Actually thinking about it anyone ive met has been early!!
and who wouldn't want to be on time to meet that "tush" foxylady...
I always aim to get to a destination for the agreed time if not 5 mins before and I would wait 1/2 hr but yes think that if you are running late and you are more than say 5-10 mins late call, just to say that you're late....

Don't waste your life on unreliable people they will mess about with your head so dump em at the first chance. By the time you die you will have spent approx four years of your life in the bathroom so how much more crap do you need.

oh how I wish I'd heard these words a lot earlier in life .....
Judy you are a star kiss
Judy darling you are so knowledgeable....
Everything you say I agree with

If they are more than 5 mins late... and you know they have a mobile and you have a mobile... then walk!!!!!
I have been late meeting people (socially and otherwise) but when I know I'm not at the meeting point at the right time and I'm not going to make it and will be late... all it takes is a text or a call!
With cable not requiring a phone line (as apposed to adsl) the mobile is becoming more of the main number and the "land line" is becoming a non-requirement. after all why pay for connection to a phone and also pay for the BBnd on top? I've not had a land line for 6 months... and dont miss it one bit... no one ever used to ring me on it, and I always used to ring people on me mobie... total saved a year 180GBP!
Ooooooh Jon - you didnt actually hi jack a thread there to talk about mobile phones did you? tut tut and shame on you!
biggrin :D :D :D
I am another one to have waited for 30 minutes, sat alone in a beer garden waiting for a meet to turn up. In hindsight I should of given them 10 minutes then walked. As the ever optimist, I believe in giving people a chance, only then to be walked over......... never again. After 5 no-shows I decided that enough was enough and changed my perspective on meets. Cinderella only belongs in fairy tales and not in real life.
am i too late to join this thread rolleyes
I have to agree with whats been said so far,if whoever your meeting cant even be bothered to make a phone call, then why should you waste your time waiting for them. rolleyes
Blimey there was me thinking half an hour wasnt long enough, make sure we are never late when we finally meet you guys - be extra early.
funny enough it happened to us again yesterday, arranged to meet someone on msn for a chat and they were late, didnt wait half an hour this time!

I don't agree a meeting without speaking on a land line first and if they don't have a mobile in todays world then they are not serious about anything, after all you can pick em up at Tesco for about £35 so there is no excuse.
Judy TV. ..........Tempus Fugit, Carpe Diem.

If I have not met someone who dostn have a mobile I would not have met the best meeting ever!!There are a few people out there who dont have mobiles, not because of cost but because they dont want one!!I know its difficult to understand but..........!!!
Sorry i'm late................................what did i miss???
