did you report the ads that resulted in spam emails? so that mods can remove them and increase the ratio of genuine to non-genuine ads? hhhmmmmm? ;)
the obvious answer is, lots aren't genuine, but i know the mods work damned hard to wead them out. if the ad looks genuine though, the only way they can do that is if users report the ads that turn out to be spam.

For the first part of your question, I have no idea how many single females in Berkshire use the site.
To the second part, if the responses you're getting are along the lines of "Thanks for your message, but I prefer a more personal response. Take a look at my profile"
Then you've obviously been spamming winking members who have the wink auto response settings on (see "My Settings" on the right).
When the spam wink messaging was first introduced, a lot of people were complaining about receiving crap messages to the Admin introduced the "Auto responder".
This means the system automatically deletes the wink message and sends you that response.
It therefore means that the user never receives the message or even knows you've spammed winked them.
Clever little invention isn't it?
If that is the message you're getting you have a number of options:
1. Carry on winking people and accept that some of them aren't going to be received.
2. Read people's profiles - a lot of people have "don't wink me" written in the profile text.
3. Actually write a pm yourself, then it will be received.

narr i have to say i do agree that i've found single female ads to be hard work too... just been talking about that in another forum. i always take the time to write a decent mail thats personal to them and their ad. I even try to think how they'd read it so its got as much appeal as i can give it.
i get responses from couples ads but very rarely from single females... ho hum, poor old me!
Think to be fair though, its still has something to do with the ration of men to woman on this site. You've just got to be thick skinned a carry on chaps!!! :thumbup:

I don't know the answer to the exact numbers - nobody does. But I don't want to be sexist here but I think that womens intuition serves me well. I can usually spot a fake ad at ten paces. I have been caught out once but I sussed it pretty sharpish.

Well it's hard to put my finger on really.... fake pics off the internet, just the way it's worded and the general feel of it.

The mails you received may have been winks, can't help with knowing how many genuine people there are in Berkshire though.
