I found a fiver on the road today. I also found a coin in my jeans the other day and changing handbags produced a few 10p's (not a lot I know). Jay and I were talking about this at lunchtime and told me of this article..
"The £1bn lying around in UK homes
Daily Mail
BRITONS are said to have left £1bn in loose change lying around the house. And failing to put it in the bank is costing us £50m a year in lost interest
.
The worst offenders, a survey showed, are 18-to 24-year-olds, who on average keep £51 in cash at home. More than half those in this age group admit forgetting they even had so much change.
Of the 1,000 adults questioned for the survey, seven per cent said they hoarded as much as £200 at a time. Over-55s were found to manage their money best, keeping on average less than £40 in cash around the house."

Does anyone actually know just how much cash they have lying around their homes? If you go away and check in the creases of your settees, in your coat pockets or in old handbags I can guarantee most of you will find some money lying around.
I've just checked our home now and I have in my purse, oodles of 5p's in a bag in the kitchen draw, lying on the bench and my daughter has around scattered around her window sill. See... blummin amazing! lol cool
I've got £45 in notes and probably a few pounds in silver in my handbag - I don't have a purse now, just a small handbag with pockets. We have a box for coppers, which we count into moneybags once it's full - probably about £3 in there. has about £10 in change in his pockets. Don't know how much the kids have though.
A colleague (aged 25) throws away coins worth anything less than 20p. Literally, throws them in the bin! Says they aren't worth saving as he can't spend less than 20p.

Really? throws them away? well that's easy come easy go for you isn't it? mind you I think copper is a total and utter waste of time. We collect ours and go to the local coinstar smile

Slap him! Then ask him how hard it would be to put his change in a charity box as soon as he gets it. confused

I was with someone a couple of weeks ago who dropped 10p and as I went to pick it up said
''leave it''
which i did..
then £1 dropped and again I was told to leave it but I picked it up saying ''i'm not leaving a pound!''
I tried to give it back to the droppee but was told to give it to charity..
I saw a homeless fella later that evening wrapped up in a quilt on the street so gave it to him .
Oh and just like the queen I don't carry cash but I probaly have a few coppers strewn around
*fumbles around the cushions*
Yes, really really throws it away in the bin. I've told him to get a tin and save it for charity, or even just to show him how much he's throwing away. He just doesn't want to know.
I have 35 euros sitting on top of the microwave, a £5 (my friend found at the train station) ready to go to charity in late sponsorship for an event I undertook, and 8p in change looking for a home (jar we keep coppers in has gone amiss).
Cannot believe anyone would throw money away when it is easy to put in a charity box or keep till it adds up to a small amount to bank.

I'm Priceless!

rotflmao
plenty of change laying around, though absolutely worthless
lp
We used to throw all our coins, 20p and smaller, in a 5 litre whisky bottle, and then empty it occasionally.
Last time we emptied is, there was over £160 in it.
It just took forever to count
We really must start again, sometime!
I put all my change under 20p in a jar, then cash it in now and again.
I thought everyone did this: I must be tight!!!!
We save up all our small change and use the coinstar machine too. It does buy a couple more cocktails when were on our holidays
Ohh, and I have £30 in my purse, and about £20 in small change in my jar.
Theres six  purses in my cupboard that are the kids, with about 1oo Euros and £15 in change.
I also found when I cleaned out the settee this morning lol

How much am I worth ?
Fek all sad
Right now, all I have in the world which has to get me to the end of the week is and 4 Cents :smug:
The coin and note monster in my housge grabs the lot ! surprised When you take the wedding vow it means they just help themselves to anything shiney that they find around the place.
I used to save all my 5p's in an unusually shaped wine bottle ( they wer the only coins that fitted in). It took ten years to fill and when emptied had £300 in. My bank would only accept five bags at a time so it took weeks to pay it all in!
I never have more than a tenner in my pocket, unless going to the pub for a session. If I want to buy anything more expensive I use my Debit card.
Having just checked I've also got 10 euros in my wallet.
Hmm we think we have about £300 in notes & change though I never see the notes Stileto has them stashed away like a squirrel with its nuts wink
Used the coin machine in ASDA to change up our last lot of copper & thought i'd broke it as it started to stink & whirr a bit with all the change I was shoving down it redface

rotflmao I'm called the magpie in our house for the same reason!
Empty pockets every evening and put coppers in one jar (holds about £9) and 5ps in another (not filled it yet). If a shop has a charity box by the till I'll usually put coppers in there.
Keep a few notes in a drawer by the door ... in case I spend all I've got and still take a taxi home!
79p :smug:

Ermmmmm nothing!! Not one penny here!! Cept the few odd bits in my purse. I dont tend to keep a lot of cash on me nowadays. Had my purse stolen a few times and lost out bigtime!
My son throws all his change in a dish and collects it all up till I have a moan about it!! Then he takes it to one of those machines that changes it up then blows it on booze and girls!
I think i'm worth $
But if I sell the Ford Anglia then It would double!!!lol
I have a pocket full of change and no notes... but I do have a few dollars, corna, copeck ( no roubles) etc lying around. Then there is a small collection of old coins, I do not think the bank would except them.
It is a lot!
Does old money count? I've got loads of sixpences, thruppenny bits, shillings etc. somewhere.
I'm worth as much as you'll pay.............. biggrin
