I was in Tesco the other evening and with the exception of the crappy 40p own brand I wouldn't even make toast with, the majority of the bread was ! :shock:
The French have had civil wars over the price of bread!
I would say Non Domestic Rate.. you already pay hugely for the privaledge of running your business as well as Employers NIC and Corporation Tax but get absolutely nothing in return for this tax - no bins collected, no local services, nothing! Outrageous!!

Petrol! that has got to be one of the biggest prices hikes over the years. I can remember my dad moaning at it being 35p a gallon back in the early 70's :shock: :lol2:

When digital radio was first launched I just had to be able to access it because I love music, I had to buy the tuner as a seperate and it cost me £600! Now you can pick up a decent DAB radio for £50. It's the same with DVD players, video recorders, cam 'corders, digital cameras, CD players, computers etc etc. All so much cheaper now.

There is an old fashioned sweet shop in a large garden centre near us...
You could almost be back at school when you walk in.......The smell of the sweets and all in the same jars they were then as well....

On the subject of fags...
I can remember fetching my dads ciggys when I was younger from our local shop and 20 used to cost 66p...
They are just short of £5 now :shock:

well you all moan about the price of things and quite rightly so but none of us have the same wages now as when we were young, my father gave up smoking just so he could buy and run a car ! and when i first started work i earnt £4 a week 3 of which went to my mum for my keep how many of todays youngsters give their parents 75% of their wages each week. they would moan at handing over £20 out of a £200 a week wage.

and i can remember buying 4 liquorice chews for an old penny or four fruit salads even, god im old I remember in the heady days of the 70's when inflation galloped at 10% that when you went to the shops you would have no idea how much anything would cost even if you had bought the same thing the week before.
In the 80's under dear,dear Maggie inflation was very very low but when you went to the shops you were never sure if the shop would be open or closed down.
Now economy doing ok? Inflation okay?

me too :giggle: My Mum used to love the old Spanish Gold sweets ( looked like mini coconut worms for those of you young uns who don't know ) and when I got some from Mrs Browns for her, her face was a picture

dont know if still available but yes they were good for tongue exercise you bit just the top off then proceeded to try and lick out all the cream b4 eating the rest of the choc hmmmmmmmm :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:
