Own one terraced or semi-detached house.
Have idiot neighbours who employ cheapskate builders.
Have said builder make huge hole in your side of the roof.
Live in the South West where we are getting 2" of rain per hour.
Anyone got an umbrella
DD mad
Aww DD that is nasty. Haven't they even put a tarp over the hole? Don't think I would leave the cowboys to fix it though ... call for the indians :violin:
Hope it is all sorted out soon
xx kiss
You have a hole in your ceiling, we have holes in our garden kiss

Just had to spit my coffee out!!
Update .. neighbour has turned up .. he doesn't live in the house .. I wonder why innocent
He brought builder who is now saying our house is in bad condition so he is not responsible even though he has been doing building work for the past 4 months on next doors roof putting in a very large extension.
Funny how we never had any trouble till now isn't it. So its insurance and solicitors tomorrow ... and I thought I was going to have a quiet week too mad
Plastic sheeting down and fingers crossed. Its currently not raining but the ceiling in the main bedroom is cracked and sagging a lot so I'm sleeping on the sofa tonight down stairs :scared:

Do your moles have any spare umbrellas or water wings ... perhaps they will drown if it rains enough then you won't have a problem will you.
Could F***ing drown a certain builder right this minute duel

Shame you didn't live closer hun :giggle:
Can't offer any real advice apart from use your camera and take as many pictures to back up your misery as you can.. (No not your face lol your ceiling and roof) Don't forget to allow good time for the rest above the damage to dry out before being tempted to patch things up inside..
Sorry to hear that... Good luck x

It might help to find out if the bulders are members of any trade associations. And go through their complaints procedure as well as taking the incompetent b***rds to court for every penny they cost you.
Make sure you keep reciepts for EVERYTHING including the plastic sheeting and other stuff you buy now and phone calls you make getting it sorted.
Check out your contents and buildings insurance too, they may have perticular clauses about damage caused by third parties as opposed to God.
Hope you get it sorted soon. :therethere:
Camera, your insurance company, keep reciepts, and send letters keeping copies to the builder and the owner ofthe house next door as well.
Oh and a sun dance, :lol
Oh and I just found out from my husband that the builder was arsey cause it was a case of coitus interuptus .. he was shagging his mistress when the call came through about our house. hump
I wonder if he is on here

Might be worth getting up into your loft to see if you can mop up any wet on the top of your ceiling before it collapses -- also take photos from the inside of the roof as well as the outside while you are up there. Careful where you walk. Good luck.
John
I can't believe this .. our insurers say we are not covered and we can't make a claim. Its a nightmare.
DD
I think you are going to have to sue the builder.
Please check the Party Wall Act as well.

Get in touch with a reliable builder who can give you a report to say that the damage could of only been done by the cowboy builder ,then get in touch with the local trading standards & tell them whats happened. As the neighbours builder should have some sort of liability insurance to cover this sort of thing .
I hope you get it all sorted as you want devondelight .

Too late I got one already. He lives on my bottom. Have a look at my profile pic. He's quite cute actually and well trained. Doesn't dig holes in my lawn and good company for my beaver. :giggle:

An update for those interested ...
We have bought and installed a new downpipe at our own expense cause waiting for all the arguments as to who is responsible to be sorted will probably take so long we may not have a house left if we have any more heavy rainfalls.
Still unable to use the front bedroom as the ceiling is still there but only just and we are still trying to dry the place out properly.
We've used de-humidifiers to extract a lot of the water but we still need to wait abit to be sure before we do any repair work.
Plus we went to get a new shower ... the salesman told us he had what we wanted in stock, but yesterdeay we want to pick it up and apparently they are out of stock, so now we are short of one bedroom and a bathroom too since the builder ripped out all the furnishings in the upstairs bathroom ready to install the new shower unit. We went and complained in person today and they have offered us a better shower that they have in stock at the same price as the one not in stock, so we are taking that one. Should have it in by Friday.
I've told the birds to move over for 2 days in the bird bath as I'm getting a bit pongy now :giggle:

Ordering a shower.
You're experience with ordering a shower is fairly common. It is caused by the shop using a computer database linked to the warehouse. The data base shows that there is a shower in the warehouse but it doesn't show if it has been ordered for another customer.
Glad you got a better one though, kinda makes it worth it. biggrin
