html code in profiles

Just a quick question for the administrators please smile
has html code been disabled in the profile text?
Just that we had ours written nice and it took quite a long time to do, checked a little earlier and it was all scrambled up and now if we try to add it again it removes html?

Hi Guys,
For security reasons we disabled html in profiles - it was actualy never meant to be there in the first place, it was an error on our part for not stripping out html - its a big security risk smile
It was actualy your profile that alerted us to this - so thanks for that !!

We thought it was a bit strange as it would of been quite easy for someone to write a script in it to read cookies for certain things :cry:
We managed to do what we wanted though now, just couldn't use the pretty colours or bold text ect sad

surprisedops:

if you use returns ect then look at your own profile, it removes them all and it just looks like one long bit of text but if you look at your own profile from another account the returns and spaces are still there!
we have an account each so we could look at it from the other...

just ment that in that text box on your profile you could use html, its like a simple form of language like the site is written with, but as this could be entered in the profile then ran when someone views the profile it was dangerous as people could write nasty bits of code in there sad

yeah thats true
But if you view your own profile it don't show them, the returns are lost so it looks like 1 long bit of text with no carriage returns.
however, if someone else views your profile, the carriage returns are there lol

this is what our own profile looks like to us if we view our own profile but if you look at it then the text is all neat with the carriage returns in.
