Helloo there everyone!
I'm thinking about holding a house party in the not too distant future but dont know where to start. Even down to the small things like what kind of surface people expect to play upon, nibbles provided, who to invite and how to vet etc...
I need your help please!

When we had a party, we kept it to 'upstairs only' playing as there was a mixture of new and experienced couples attending. This meant that those who wanted to play could go upstairs if they wished without scaring any less experienced smile We provided nibbles and a supply of drinks and most of the guests brought some drink with them too. The party actually turned into more of a socialising party than a swinging party; it was very relaxed and we all had a laugh, which made it successful (in our opinion).
I told you what i thought earlier, but you are best to take advice from every corner.
we have been to a lot of house parties over the yrs and this is how we see them. choosing your guests is down to you allways but ask friends that you have invited if they know of other nice people they know would make good house party the food simple like salad, sadwiches etc and put on a few drinks including soft drinks for those that are driving and the non drinkers .people that attend house parties do bring bottles and cans so dont go over the top when buying the drink .set out your play areas. most parties the play is upstairs and at some parties some rooms are out of bounds(childrens bedrooms for instance) so if this is the case let the guests know . keep the music low you dont want to drown out the conversation . some guests maybe a little nervous so u may need to help the person(s) to mingle a bit so they feel more relaxed.
hope that helps you a little but if you need any more help just let me know

Jules...want an invite to a private party ? wink
If you're going to the NW munch that might be a good place to 'vet' people because you get to meet them face to face so you know they are genuine.
Just a thought!

i have found that most house parties i have been to have had designated "playing" areas..... and the rest of the house has been for socialising only.
i think this works very well as a lot of people will go and play.. then come back down and chat for a bit, before going off to play.. and carying on like that for the night.
if you are intending to invite people from far away... it is a good idea to have enough room for people to bring their air beds or sleeping bags to stay over.. as having to book hotels or travel a long way late at night might put people off.
as for food./..... i think a few nibbles is good but dont go over the top.. some parties i have been to... everyone has even ordered from the local takeaway at midnight... so its not an issue.
i also think it is good to have an even ratio of males to females.....in my experience it makes the conversation and the social aspect run a lot more smoothly.
the last thing i would say is.. do NOT spend ur whole evening running around after everyone else... its YOUR party and you should enjoy it! your guests are perfectly able to fetch their own drinks.. and the tidying up cant wait till the morning!
enjoy!.. (and dont forget WBB who also lives in manc! wink )
lol
Thanks everyone for the replies. You have really helped.

I'll get my calendar out and start planning!
You could start by inviting a couple of reptiles!!!
Do not expect everyone to turn up.
We have found that ppl are very keen to come to a party until a a day or so before and then they remeMber their great aunts birthday that they just have to attend - or something like that!
The worst one'S are ppl who just dont turn up even when they have confirmed the day before.
We only hold partys for Couples or BiFems and we now insist on girl/girl phone contact for confirmation as it is a slightly better indicator that they will actually turn up.
